Hmph, horse-archers (and cavalry in general) wouldn't be very useful in a jungle, to be honest. I think that's one of the reasons that Imperials went more for light-infantry.

For what my goal is, and what I want, I won't be in much of the Niben jungle.

Yea, same layout. Skingrad castle will be nearly detached, etc.

Though Roman mounted archers won't be much of a comparison to Redguard nomads, here is a little link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sagittarii They did have a few.

Also. Final troop numbers:

Imperial City (the legions): 60,000 - 10 legions

Noblemen cities (Bravil & Skingrad): 20,000 each.

Foreign forces: 45,000 (Elves get 50,000, but 15,000 of their total troops must be goblins. Verlox, Walrus, split this in half).

Noblemen forces in cities: 20,000
-Note: Will only defend against the Empire. Will not defend against foreigners, as they want to use the foreigners to weaken the Empire. They WILL defend against foreigners if the foreigners try to raid their city and destroy it.

Good. Glad I worked out a review of each cites defensible ability, and I even found a few "weak" points (because of the way the wall is designed) in the walls of a few cities.

Also forgot the Dunmer.

Am I the only one here who watches Mythbusters? Hasn't anyone seen the episode where they test the myth about how firing a bow while riding a horse at speed increases the penetrating power? Turns out it does, not double like the myth stated, but a nice 40% or so. They had real life mounted archers, and I doubt these people had been doing it their whole lives. What we saw them do on the show wasn't crazy riding backwards and shoot you right in the eye stuff, but they were damn accurate for 40 mph.

Well seeing as how there are few nomadic peoples left in the world I can't imagine they have been doing it their whole lives... But if you ask any one of them, I'm sure they've devoted a pretty good chunk of their lives to become even that efficient. To train a unit with sufficient numbers to be able to to it with even medium efficiency might not be worth the cost to anyone in Cyrodiil because of the landscape.

I think this about sums it up :P

Also, is Skingrad "allies" with the Empire? Making Skingrad and Bravil the two remaining loyal subjects?

Yeah but consider a battlefield, you don't need to be extremely accurate, there's a whole slew of them, just aim for "over there," make sure your arrow will keep an okay flight path and you're set, we're not talking about shooting AT something really, it's more of a general direction.

Also, we might want to consider that for a long time war was between soldiers on a battlefield, you didn't touch the women and children until after you had won.

Okay, if it is the roman legion we are going to look like then I can propably make a good sheet for 80 men.
I thought the Pilum was too IRL to be fit in this RP but I guess it can be used then...

I'd like to be an Argonian, with Argonian soldiers. How should I go about this?

This will be my first TES RP and first army RP, hopefully I won't disappoint. :P

Name: Emanonsah

Race: Argonian

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Birthsign: The Mage

Class: Spellsword

Proficiencies: Blade, Athletics, Fishing

Physical Appearance: He has red eyes, and dark red scales mixed amongst the black. His face is flatter than what you'd typically find in Argonians, and his spikes protrude vertically from the top of his skull(hair) for roughly 3 inches.

Apparel : Bark-mail, armor made of Arogonian tree bark.

Weapons: Rusty Steel Longsword and dagger.

Spells: None(Can you obtain spells later on? I'd like this to change obviously.)

Misc Info: He likes to swim.

Psychological Profile: Calm, modest intellect, busy body.

History: Emanonsah "the Undesired" grew up in a rough swamp, under the roof of his father Saargos. Saargos was a fisherman in the village of Glenbridge, but at one point in his life he was a fearsome Spellsword for the Argonian military in their joint campaign with the Dunmer to fend off a small band of Akavirian pirates, the campaign brought him all the way to Thorn and into battles up to Tear.

In Saargos' travels, he collected enough money for a Steel Longsword, and dagger, along with a fair bit to put aside for his sons future. Little did either Saargos or Emanonsah know, a war would break out right at their borders. Saargos was old, and knew his sons youth would fuel his desire to join the conflict. So, as a dawn broke over their village each morning, Saargos would be setting up the events for Emanonsah's days training.

On his last day of training, Emanonsah was approached by his father. "Here my son. Hope it serves you well..." as Saargos handed his son the sword, he could see his sons passion for combat in his eyes. The next day, Saargos commissioned the local craftsman to create suitable armor for his son, fitted and measured to his liking. This purchase wiped out most of Saargos' savings, and he could hardly make ends meet as it was. Emanonsah now had only one option; join the war in the west.

I'll update my character over the next few days, but that's his basic profile. I'm planning to evolve him in both personality and, more prominently than melee combat, magical ability.

This is very interesting. I'll accept it, but you may need to make some changes to the bio (not because it is bad) because if you are going to lead a military, he would have had to get to that position.

You might either want to make him a new tribal cheiftan, or a military commander for Gideon, etc. This will be interesting though. I'd love to see some Argonian invaders. And, eh, does steel rust?

I just need to know if you've got any lore experience. You seem to have some sense, as well as some of the ideal things the argonians would use. An argonian force invading leyawin, or trying to get back at the Dunmer, or both, would be incredible and add some action to this thing.

I'd like to think of the Argonians would be more of a smaller, covert force than a huge grand army marching for glory and battle and what not. Considering they have basically ejected all Imperial presence from Argonia and the tribal way in which they seem to work and live, I doubt there is a charismatic enough leader to rouse a sufficient invading force to leave the safety of their marshes.

I would think of it being one or maybe two tribes (with the blessings of the others of course) who wanted to at least make some noise in the war and come out with some gains who bring a small force (500-1000) and would try to use subterfuge, terror and what-not to strike at their enemies and maybe even offer their services out amongst the other factions who are at war for money, land promises, treaties for the future to leave their asses alone in their happy little marsh, etc?

Yea I was debating the overall number. My Khajiit force, which I apparently have to play now, should be interesting, as most of it will be guerrilla like as well.

I'd say the Argonians got at least a few thousand guys. 500 could do some guerrilla damage of course, but it wouldn't seem like a "major threat" to be looked upon. If they had a few thousand, then it could be threatening, especially since they'll be literal swamp troops.

Alright.

I may sound like a complete [censored] right now, but I may decide to cancel this, or just postpone it. Immortal Blood is about to come out with his new Hammerfell thing, so, yea.

Tell me your thoughts and how much you want to do this. I'll keep it around if you guys want to. It's up to you.

If we do do this, someone else will have to take Leyawin. I can't handle it.

I personally don't think Leyawiin is essential. Offer the position to that guy who has a Khajiit force or just have the Khajiit in the war with a small force like the Argonians. Not looking to take over Cyrodiil but looking to make a splash and some gains.

And I swear to god, if you postpone or cancel this after the work everyone has done on their CS, I'll come down to your house and personally strangle you in the name of everybody involved in this thing....

The IBT is still on a completely different RP right now, and until that one is finished, there is no Hammerfell RP to go up and therefore no reason to cancel this one.

EDIT: Looks like I spoke too soon, seeing as how IB just closed it down.... I guess its up to you then but I'm with Haresus. If you decide to open this up in the future, I can't promise my taking part in it.

Aw, really? I just finished all my plans and character sheet. I would still very much like to do this, and if you can't handle Leyawiin I'm sure there is someone else capable of taking it. I would, but the Khajiit are a little too close to the Dunmer to retain equality. So my vote goes towards doing it, I've put in too much time for it to go to naught, as I'm sure everyone else has too.

What do you mean "disgusts you"! That is just bad self-confidence! For example, I joined Woolymammoths "War in Betony"-RP, wrote a post but never got into it. Sure, someone may have been slightly dissapointed at how all newbs nowadays just joins and then leaves (sorry for that, fellas) but noone disgusts me for it!
