It's a long wait until November 2012

The main problem is the longer you wait the more likely you are to die before you get it! :flamed: :violin:

I hear what your saying OP but there's no way I'll be able to wait an extra year to play Skyrim, I'd rather just buy Skyrim in November then buy the GOTY edition next year.

Who would re-sell an Elder Scrolls game? Or even a fallout game?

Pretty much any BGS game goes into the permanent Library. I don't play many games on my original xbox, but I still own it. Heck, I have a Dunmer on there with like 500 hours!

You're right a fallout game isn't worth reselling better to crush it and burn it and hope it stays dead!

There is nothing wrong with waiting for something you want so you can get a better deal. I to do that with some things. Like new technology in TV's or cars. I await for the price to drop on many things really. But I am willing to pay the extra to play my games as soon as I can get them. I won't buy day old bread either or give up my more expensive choice in coffee. We all have to prioritize according to our individual hierarchy of desires.

i wouldnt dare spend money on a car... several reasons... i dont have a driver's license, is one major reasons...

...the other reason is because the entire city would be destroyed from my driving skill... which is more destructive than anything else. :pinch:

anyway... as much as i'd like the GotY edition, im just gonna buy skyrim the day it comes out... i may skip out on downloading the DLC [if i can fight the urge, that is] and buy the GotY edition when it comes out, too.

unless, of course... bethesda releases smaller DLC, such as strongholds, etc... and those things dont make it onto the GotY [like what happened with oblivion]

...then i'll probably download all the DLC... and buy skyrim's GotY edition... for some reason.

i wanna play skyrim really badly...

Problem with the "Buy a game and resell it" thing is that it's usually impossible at this point with most games. Most games nowadays ends up where you install the game on your computer and then you have to register it online and then no one else can use it. So if your only going to play this great game once and be done with it, I would just buy it when it comes out and then quit because you most likely won't be able to resell it.

TES games should never be re-sold, such acts are blasphemy!

I plan to mod for Fallout 3 before and after Skyrim comes out, and once Skyhaven is done I may try my hand at Skyrim modding - can't wait.

Modding or Death.

True! Actually, I bought Tes 3 several times (gave Tes 3 away to each of my younger brothers). Gladly pay more for Tes 5 when it's out, saving money on TES is not something that I could come up with!

Twenty-two months is a long time to wait for this game. I'm talking, of course, about the GOTY edition of Skyrim that will have all the DLC on the disc. The GOTY versions of Bethesda games usually come out about a year later.

Why wait until then? Because I hate paying for DRM (digital restrictions management), and I know that Bethesda is going to announce a bunch of DLC soon after the game's release, and I hate DLC. I hate the fact that I can't resell it when I'm done with it. So I'll just have to wait until November 2012 to play Skyrim.

Simple solution, by the collectors edition, you'll be able to sell it for possibly even more than you bought it for.

God I cannot wait for 2012 to pass just so I can see what other crazy end of the world theories people will make up :D I am still waiting for the last end of world theories to occur lol.

To the OP: Heck if you can wait then you must have the patience of a saint, im trying to figure out how I am going to survive the next coming months for Skyrim.

Is your only reason because you can't resell the DLC?

Yes. I only play games on my Xbox.

I just finished playing Fallout 3: GOTY and sold it for $20. Companies are attacking the used game market with unprecedented fervor, so I feel compelled to reject such attacks. I generally avoid buying any add-on packs.

I purchased Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age when they came out, and the games came with free DLC. I regret using those DLC codes because the free DLC wasn't worth it. I wish I had saved the codes so that when I sold those games, the buyers could have use them.

Anyone, the point of this thread is to just to voice my opinion. I'm not paying for DRM-encumbered DLC, so if Bethesda wants that money, they'll need to put the DLC on a disc.

Well, I definitely won't buy any games like that! That's nonsense. Fortunately, that only happens on PC games, and I only play on my Xbox. There's no way I'm paying $60 for a game if I can't sell it when I'm done. I refuse to pay more than $10 for any Xbox Arcade games for that very reason.

Well that's just ridiculous. I'm talking about legally purchasing a new game, playing it legally, and then selling it legally when I'm done. How is that strange? I don't pirate games, but at the same time I don't appreciate game developers who try to kill the used game market. Buying games should be just like buying books. I vote with my wallet.

but don't you get it? they want the used game market to die because they don't get the profit when a used game is sold, that's why so many PC games have to be registered and you can buy so many full games straight from the xbox market place.
soon you won't be able to sell games back, trust me on this one

Same here.

He should stop buying games then, and become a pirate. What a strange fellow...

Thats awesome. :)

Both my kids and wife loved Oblivion (they started there), and the excitement in the house is building. Of course they want to fly the dragons, but I hooked em on maybe even learning to Speak dragon around the dinner table.

Ah, but they do profit. I won't pay more than $10 for a game I can't resell, so if they charge $60 for a game that I can resell, then they're making a $50 profit on the used game market.

I bought Fallout 3: GOTY for $60 the day it was released. I would not have purchased the game at all if I couldn't resell it and the DLC it came with. So that's $60 that they made, a year after they released the game, that they would otherwise not have made. So there is money in allowing the used game market.

The day I can't resell my Xbox games is the day I sell my Xbox.

While I respect your decision, OP, and am cool with it...I'm still confused. Just buy the game when it comes out and don't rush. Don't play the game as percentages. Play it like you're entering the shoes of another person's life.

For example, in my Skyrim, my character will be a Nordic warrior named Alga Highlander. I have no idea what she'll do, but I look forward to letting her tell her story.

And if Alga's story is complete, I'll put her in her house and make a new character and he/she will tell me his/her story.

And so on, and so forth until I have all the combination of age/body types of all the characters men and women. :D

once you sell it back to say, gamestop, they can sell that game and get it back 30 times, making $50 a sale. The only time the developer makes money is in the initial sale.
more people are playing their game without them making any money, and therefore, they are losing profit.
soon you will not be able to buy a physical copy of a game, you will have to download it straight off the market place, and then you can't sell it back

so prepare to sell your xbox

I second the first part. And I  for the second part.

I'm going to buy Skyrim day one. I'm going to buy all the DLC day one. I will then purchase the Goty for PC most likely day one. And they will be played for years to come.

I am completely against the used games market and I'm perfectly fine with developers not supporting it. It's bad business for them because they don't make any money from a used games sale. I want to support the people who make the game not [censored] gamestop.

I understand where your coming from, I bought a PS3 about 6 months after it came out and I think I currently own 7 or 8 games but I've bought and sold many in the past 4 or 5 years. I sold Oblivion and bought GOTY Oblivion when it came out, same for Fallout 3. I don't really sell them for the money but something like GOW 3 is just a pretty, long hallway full of enemies and I've ran through it twice already and have no desire to do it again so why keep it? I plan to keep my GOTY versions of the Beth games I own and I always have a GTA around but most games that come out nowadays have no where near the amount of content these games have, so there isn't really any replayabillity. BGS doesn't have to worry about me selling thier games due to the amount of content in them, but if other companies don't want me selling thier games two weeks after buying them they should at least try to compete with BGS and Rockstar.

Even though i'll probably trade Skyrim in for Skyrim GOTY I can't wait an extra year to play it, and will happily spend whatever it costs to play my favorite games.
