Hiya!

I've been playing TES games for some time now (I can easily count from 2000 to 3000 hours of gameplay of TES III, IV and V combined) and I thought It was about time I seriously tried Daggerfall. I've heard wonders of the game, but also that is really punishing and confusing for the first time: That's why I wanted to ask you for any kind of advice, as well as any mods I should install at any cost.

I hope I made my concerns clear enough, I'm eager to hear your responses.

If you download the setup bundle that includes DosBox, you get all the patches, and the mods that don't "break" the original game in the sense that you can remove them and your saves will still work. There are a few more around that can be installed, but that character will then need to keep the mod in place. Since Daggerfall didn't have a Construction Set, there aren't anything like the number of mods that Morrowind or Oblivion have.
