Looking for advice on which mods to install in which order

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:08 pm

For example.

For an oblivion FCOM install its best to install OOO + Frans + warcry BEFORE MMM.

Also good to install the UOP etc before all of that as well.

So basically i'm curious as to what I should install in what order,

and if there is a mod out like FCOM for F03

Maybe F03 wanderers edition + MMM?

Have been away from fall out 3 modding scene for a couple years now, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think it really matters right now, but I get into the habit of installing the smaller mods first and save the overhauls for last. I do install MMM and then FWE and finally the FOIP files last. The biggest thing to worry about is getting the load order correct. Most readme's that come with mods will tell you were to place their mod.

I install all of my miscellaneous small mods first then FWE, WMK, MMM (in that order) leaving all of my texture replacers for last. Seems to work out.

I'm different. I install the big mods first. UF3P, FWE, MMM, WMK, etc. Usually in that order, too (I don't always use UF3P, though). The smaller mods I have either add brand new things, that the overhauls don't touch, or specifically are installed to override something that I don't like with them.
I didn't use many of the overhauls in Oblivion, just OOO and MMM and the UOP, but even then I did the same thing, as at some stage it was a requirement that OOO be installed before MMM.

Still, even though I do it different than those above, I haven't had any problems. As Miss Sparkle said, I don't think it matters just yet.
Except for the merged (or bashed) patch. That's created at the end, and rebuilt each time mods are added/removed.

Thanks for the replies.

So do I use wyrebash? What am I using for this merged patch?

Also is there a guide for load order, or something fancy like BOSS for fallout 3?

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10193. Not quite to the level of Oblivion, But it's a start.

BOSS-F is a start, but if you're running a typical FOIP load order you want to adhere to the load order as described in the http://sites.google.com/site/fo3wanderersedition/faq. It takes precedence over BOSS-F
