Looking for a beast races Head Replacer

Post » Thu Oct 07, 2010 7:43 pm

I'm using Vvardenfell Visages and the two small releases from Westly's head replacer as a replacer for the heads of most NPCs, but neither of these mods do anything with the beast races.

The Argonians aren't so bad, but the Khajiit heads http://www.tesnexus.com/imageshare/images/57416-1273357875.jpg when attached to Liztail's beast bodies.

So I was wondering, is there a good standalone head replacer for Argonians/Khajiit?

Yeah, that bunny's a straightup badass. I hope to see him with a chainsaw.

Maybe you could find something in http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2735 or http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=335 ?

Also, http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=1073 has specific heads for some Khajiit in Balmora. (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Portfolios.Detail&id=434757&id=10658)

I've yet to find a Khajiit face replacer that improves the meshes. All of the ones I've seen out there are merely retextures.

I just use some of the faces from Westly's Master Head Pack.

I like Westly's Master Headpack but until it's a replacer it's mostly wasted on my game :\

True, the file is too big if you don't have many characters, I usually take out only hair+head out of the pack. Aside from that, one could always assign all the faces and hairs to NPCs on their own if they have nerves and time

There should generally be more beast mods if you ask me :P

Those Unique Heads of Balmora....some are utterly incredible, which brings to light three big problems with face/head mods:

  • The faces can look so good that everything thing else looks like vomit.
  • The human faces are always better than those of the other races: it's photo realistic on one side and cartoons on the other.
  • No one has bothered to fix the hair?

I don't get why someone can't just take a really nice human face and make the skin grey or yellow, color the eyes weird and call it a day. Why have cartoon Dunmer, High Elves, and Bosmer? I suppose the Orcs would take a little more work, but at least one guy has made a good set of Orc heads already.

1 update everything else. A face replacer is by nature only designed to update the faces, if the faces then look too good for your vanilla game update the meshes and or textures until you're satisfied all around.
2. There's some very nice photo realistic versions of the elfish races as well as the orcs. Though I'll readily admit the Khajiit never get enough love.
3. Uh, Better Heads includes new hair meshes, as do most race replacers all the way back to Rhedd's heads. Also Telesphoros espless replacer updates all the ingame hairs even further.

Basically I don't think you've looked into this far enough for the complaints your making, they've all been addressed already

Gawain: Vvardenfell Visages has some very good heads for the Elven races which certainly don't look like cartoons (see http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/6324/trombinoscope23vvardenf.jpg picture, for example). They don't just look like humans with painted faces either, but that's a good thing in my view; they're not supposed to.

That's great, if you have Max. Which I don't. So unless you want to do it, the meshes still look horrible.

I have a question about Better Heads. I downloaded the .rar today, but it won't extract like I need it to. The error messages number 1000+ and say stuff such as, "Could not create 'insert file here'. Access is denied"/"Could not find specified path". Help, please?
