[REQz] Looking for dead characters! (Thread #2)

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 4:25 pm

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1004950

I am working on a project right now that, amongst many Daggerfallesque things, enhances the looks of Cyrodiil's cathedrals.
It is called Oblivifall. http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1038866&st=0

I want to add names and epitaphs to the bodies found in the numerous chapel undercroft areas. And now, I thought it would be cool to have them named after characters that you, Oblivion players, use. Or simply characters that you submit, but have never played.

I am looking only for dead characters who were famous for their heroic deeds, their standing or simply had money to be buried there. May it be Knights, Nobles, Commoners, Weapon Smiths, Counts, Countesses, Dukes and Duchesses, etc.

No bandits though. Because, afterall, you wouldn't find bandits and criminals having their private tombs inside a chapel's undercroft! :P

Do no post spoilers related to Oblivion's quests. If you feel the need to do so, put them in spoiler tags
Spoiler

!

If you are interested, submit me here your character's information like this :

Name :
Famous for/Profession :
City in which you want the character buried : (Cheydinhal Only! See stats below)
Date of birth and death :
Brief epitaph (Optional but recommended)

Please know that I accept only characters with Lore-Friendly names and races, and also characters whose "Famous for" are not associated with any of Oblivion's quests. I'll change the names if they don't fit with the lore.

Here's the rundown of the number of Corpse/Tombs in each Cathedral :

Leyawiin : 19/19 (DONE)

Bruma : 19/19 (DONE)

Chorrol : 18/18 (DONE)

Cheydinhal : 36/43

ANvil : 10/10 (DONE)

Bravil : 10/10 (DONE)

Skingrad : 10/10 (DONE)

Kvatch : 8/8 (DONE)

Temple of Ancester Moth: 4/13

134/150

(We can do it!)

And thanks for those who submitted characters! :goodjob:

I've finally decided to submit one of mine. Maybe not too original, and I don't know if it fits the lore, just change whatever you please.

Name :Catelyn (unknown fathers), Imperial woman
Profession :Temple of Ancestor Moth "caretaker" (don't know the right word, i.e one of those monks who isn't blind and looks after the blind monks), eventually rised to abbotess (or whatever is the maximum rank they can attain, if any)
Famous for :she became extremely skilled in the "way of the peaceful fist", was one of the many martial arts masters that taught Helvius Cecia.
Spoiler
He's the master of hand to hand in the game, so I've always figured that he would be a much more powerful and complicated person if they had made his background and the h2h mechanics more deep

City in which you want the character buried :Temple of Ancestor Moth :D
Date of birth and death :don't know for sure, lets say Helvius was something like 15 when he first met her and she was already in her fifties or sixties... like 3E340-3E415 more or less? (I have a tendency to end numbers always in 0 or 5 here)
Brief epitaph :"Do, or do not... there is no try."
Spoiler
yep, its from Yoda, couldn't come with anything of my own, sorry :P but I think its fitting

Name: Reginald, Makaan, II
Race: Breton (male)
Background: Successfuly balenced membership with the Guild of Mages and his private work as an Imperial sancioned Necromancer with his loyalty to the Nine. Well know for intentionaly separating the heads from his test subjects so that he could keep them as trophies, as a constant reminder of what happens to those who are deemed un-worthy of life.
Born - Died: 3E301 - 3E399 (age of 98 achieved thanks to his reserch no doubt)
Epitath: Draining the servants of darkness to sustain a servant of the light, may the ends always justify the means.

Bury him wearever you chose. Keep in mind, that he died before the Mages Guild baned Necromancy, and that Necromancers can be legitimately "registered" by the Empire. Lore wise, they were generaly given the corpse of criminals, though i cant help but wonder if they may have suplimented thier supply of test subjects by other means as well :chaos:
Basicaly, despite his darker personaly, he was a practitioner of an at that point legitimate trade and was respected (as well as feared) for his skills.

@Fiore1300: I'm afraid Sloads wouldn't be buried in Undercrofts, but rather shipped back to their homelands. smile.gif (Nice epitaph!)

In that case, his corpse was probably fed to the land-bats that inhabit Thras and his name erased from the books. I mean, he was quite a disgrace for a Sload: no self-respecting Sload would take up religion seriously-unless they saw some sort of material gain. Hence why our..er..hero was living in exile in Cyrodiil. :P And thanks, I liked his epitaph too. :P

Anyway, to continue sticking up for under-privileged races...and to be a little more serious :shifty: :

Name: "Harry" Khomomo
Race: Igma/Wood Elf
Background: Born to a Bosmer father and Igma mother, Khomomo fought for the Aldmeri Dominion in their struggle against Tiber Septim. She is known for her guerrilla victories against Tiber's soldiers in the Colovian region. After the defeat of the Aldmeri Dominion at the hands of Tiber and Numidian, Khomomo laid down the bow and swore to devote herself to peace. A worshiper of Stendarr, Khomomo became a diplomat of Valenwood and did much to help the province integrate into the Empire. Known affectionately as "Harry" by Colovian and Nibenean diplomats, she married a Colovian nobleman but was mysteriously assassinated on her wedding night by unknown agents.
Born - Died: Born 2E 865 on the north bank of the River Strid. Died 3E 3 in Kvatch. She was 35.
Buried: Kvatch
Epitaph: "May war help men see to peace." or "May Colovia and Valenwood prosper always with Stendarr's blessing."

Name: Fieri Indavel
Background: Because of his extensive knowledge of Illusion magic, House Telvanni tasked Fieri Indavel with the job of spying on Mages Guild activities in and around the Morrowind-Cyrodiil border. Eventually, Fieri Indavel grew tired of the ways of the Telvanni, of the lies and treachery that most Telvanni wizards view as tradition. Fieri Indavel turned on the Telvanni, and started spying for the Mages Guild. He gathered many hidden secrets for the guild, and due to his mastery of illusion magic, he was able to continue gathering those hidden secrets until he retired. On his deathbed, Arch-Mage [guy-who-preceded-Traven] (I can't find a name on UESP anywhere :/) made Fieri Indavel an honorary Master-Wizard of the guild.
City in which you want the character buried: Cheydinhal, but really, anywhere would be fine.
Date of birth and death: Born 3E 332, died 3E 423 (I wish I knew how long the Dunmer lifespan typically lasts) (If the dates conflict with lore, well, I tried my best. :V)
Brief epitaph: "In the beginning, treachery and deceit
In the end, loyalty and truth
In between, everything else."

Name: Voranus Nerevar
Famous for: Generous insanity. He was plagued by ghostly images of bees for most of his life. Whenever he swatted one, the body could not be found...and another soon took its place. He eventually went mad and cut his eyes out, only to realize he could still *hear* the undead insects, though nobody else could. He later killed himself. Despite being insane, he was a respected member of the community for his kind heart.
Buried in: Temple of the Ancestor Moths
Epitaph: "B stands for bumble bee...bumble bee...B stands for bumble bee..."

Reason for such an odd character: I'm being plagued by a ghost bug right now. It's been in my room since yesterday and hasn't left. It occasionally pops out and bumps into walls (and makes a LOT of noise), but then it suddenly disappears for long periods of time and is completely silent. I didn't much of it until a few minutes ago when I thought I cornered it behind a picture (it flew behind one of the pictures hanging on the wall of my room.) I slammed the picture into the wall, hoping to kill it, and I didn't see it fly or fall out. I removed the picture...and it wasn't there. I've heard it once since then, but I haven't seen it.

I hope you don't grow tired of my requests, cause I find it fun to come up with these personalities.
Name: Varus Larsius
City: Bravil
Known for/profession:Politician/Philantropist. He was called the Spokesman of the poor.
Lifespan: 3E 313 - 3E 397
Epitaph: Here lies man of great words and a great heart.

Varus grew up in a high middle class family, but spent a lot of time together with his lower class friends. This formed his later life as he always took stance for the poor in the political landscape of Cyrodiil. He was also known as a formidable rhetorician and voiced his opinions on several matters until his death in 3E 397.

Famous For: A high-ranking member of the Mages guild prior to the ban of Necromancy. She also managed to balance her Magic studies while exploring Colovia. Buried in: Cheydinhal, as that was where she was born and studied prior to her death.

Thank you for your submissions guys! You have all been added, except Bone Collector's. Sorry Bone, but your character is famous for too many in-game quests. :P But you are welcome to change this information if you like. ;)

I've updated the first post with the stats for the number of bodies left. In terms of city, only Cheydinhal is left, and there's also the Ancestor Moths who need more bodies.

All in all, 16 bodies are waiting to be claimed. On this, I'd like to thank everyone of you, without your help I would have never have been able to come up with 150 different characters!
Sincerly, thank you very much. :D

Date of birth and death : 3E 292 - 3E 335

Name: Imperia Vallena
Race: Imperial
Died: W/e
Buried: Cheydinhal, or another other free tomb
Famous For: An exceedingly beautiful young woman, she was raised in the most priviledged of households. She learned of all of Tamriel's cultures, and had the best tudors. However, her passion lay in the tales of the great monster-slayers of Cyrodiil. Craving the excitement of such a life, she made plans to set out into the wilds to slay great mythical beasts. Her father, realizing the fact that her sheltered life had not prepared her for this task, set up mock battles in a local arena for her. Unbeknowest to Imperia, each of the fights was rigged for her to win. Unfortuntely, this made her believe she was truly great monster hunter, and so, without her father's knowledge, set off to fight beasts in the wilderness-just as a bear happened to be hungry for a mid-hibernation snack. Her father was rich enough to bury her picked clean bones here in Cheydinhal.

Epitaph: "A beautiful woman with a noble air, she was a quite a meal for a certain bear."

EDIT This is to replace Calessia Manypiece, my earlier entry.....if I recall correctly, she didn't fit lore. So this one does.
