Looking for Female PC Heads

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 3:42 pm

Several searches on TESNexus haven't come up with anything. I want to play a female character but I can't since the heads are so f-ing ugly. And I can't manipulate the face gen worth squat.

Edit: IMO there is something REALLY wrong with the fact that all the random female heads look like middle-aged to really old men.

I use all kinds of crazy stuff, like overhauls and races redux galore, but I won't throw any of those things your way... ;)

How about http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11617? There are some prerequisites, but it looks pretty comprehensive, without changing too much else about the game. Hopefully. :)

edit: Of course, becoming familiar with the face gen is probably the best way...

Another option is to download a save game from TES with a face you like and then use Wrye Bash to import the face to your save. If you don't like the NPC faces in the game I'd recommend TNR or Cobl TNR (which also gives them new eyes/hairs if you're using Cobl Races). Also, you probably want better face textures - I'm using http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/totocharacter.html, but there are other options as well.

Ah, good call. I'd forgotten for a sec that you can do that in Wrye Bash. D'oh!

Not that many people seem so keen to try using that anyway, mind you...

And yes, face textures are a good start, though they won't really help with face *shape*, per se. And something like Throttlekitty's head meshes is different, but not for all.

Using others' saves is the easiest way, to simply get (hopefully) preferable face shapes. Whether you use that all-in-one package or individual saves with Wrye Bash (or another utility), that is.

If you mean Wrye Bash, I've always found the reluctance among some for using it a bit odd as it's an essential utility when using mods IMO. Also, while not extremely simple to set up and use it's hardly rocket science either. Well, it's their loss. But I guess Oblivion Face Exchange Lite works much the same (i.e. that it can import a face from one save to another).

I really miss the pre-set feature from Morrowind and Fallout 3 here :(

Fallout 3 also uses Facegen SDK, the presets are NPC faces made with G.E.C.K(Facegen sliders are better than in-game, huh?), then flagged as 'preset', while Morrowind uses static head meshes.

You can use http://www.facegen.com to make a face, then transplant it to your save file. There's utility like http://web.t-online.hu/laga/zennorious/oblivion/downloads/fg2ob/fg2ob.zip to do the job. It will give you best result with vanilla head mesh and Head06 base mesh.

There is High Rez Skin Textures for HGEC on Tesnexus that makes them look alot better if you ask me :) I don't think im allowed to link here, because there is nudity in the pics.

The mod makes the body including the face high rez, and it looks ALOT better.

I don't think my character's face looks THAT bad: http://www.elderstats.com/images/cprofiles/photos/518151_753Alessiaface.png

I believe the only mods I have that affects faces (besides the hair mod of course) is the beautiful people mod...and that really only fixes discolored "patches" in their face I think.

Looks much nicer than my attempts. Only one I was satisfied with was one of my first characters which I modelled after my sister
