Looking for a good Mod Manager

Post » Thu Jul 28, 2011 1:35 pm

So after playing Morrowind for years, I'm finally using mods to enhance game play, improve textures/meshes and fix bugs. The thing is, many of these mods are very specific on the load order that needs to be applied. Is there some mod manager around that will allow me to change the load order of mods and possibly provide one button installation of downloaded mods? The second part isn't necessary for me, just a desired bonus.

I highly, highly recommend Wrye Mash. Save yourself the trouble of installing python and http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=3646.

That's correct but if you choose http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1180562-yacobys-wrye-mash-fork/ version which is a Wrye Mash Stand Alone (Python based) you'll have mlox included in WMSA. All features that Melchor has added into his WMSA are now part of Yacoby's WMSA but you need http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=4233 installed. :)

When you guys mention Python base, what is it that you mean? How does this affect me and what additional programs do I need?

Python is a set of program libraries that some programs, like Wrye Mash, need to run properly. It can be difficult to install properly and/or get WM to work with it, which is why the stand alone program was recommended. Python installs like most any other program, but it has to be installed first if you're using a program that relies on it, otherwise the program in question won't work.

If not using the stand-alone Wyre Mash, you have to download http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionUtilities.Detail&id=44, and install the files it has. It was easy for me once I found it, but I don't know what the differences are with the stand-alone version because I never used it.
