looking for good mods

Post » Fri Oct 08, 2010 5:26 pm

i have reinstalled oblivion on my computer after a long time of not playing oblivion. Last time i played oblivion modding was in its infancy. Are there any good mods that are must haves for someone returning to oblivion?

You might want to read this http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1098169-assistance-with-mod-choice-and-compatibility/ there the OP has a mod list over suggested mods. :read:
Also look for any "[RELZ]" thread in this forum. Good luck with your hunting of good mods. :obliviongate:

Since I don't know what you're after, so I post this http://search2.yacoby.net/search?general=Faces&game=OB&act=Search&page=1 of all Oblivion mods related to faces. :user:

I don't think this could cause any issue, but what is the "my patch.esp" for a kind of mod is it some kind of the own created patch or something.

You can try this mods out to see if any these fix your other body issues and also read the mods readme.

The name is a bit of a clue. I often fix things for myself, like VI's disasterous pathgrids and lighting.

That's the way it should be if you're using non-vanilla textures, the tone of face and body is calculated differently by the game, this odd color difference is called "seam", the term applies to body parts that doesn't mix well (for example a hand might be smaller than the arm, or the upper body waist is smaller than the lower body waist)

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about this. There does exist a "body seam reducer" mod, but I forgot where it is and it doesn't really work with my custom race

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10811 this should help with the faces being strange colors. Using this in combination with http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5643 and then http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9534 provides the best results I've found for making NPCs not look like freaks.

in fallout 3 these seams can be removed by setting the mod causing the problem to act as a master file, would i be able to do this in this situation?

Yes do that, but create a clean save after you have removed all files of that mod.

I'm not sure if the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1965 mod could fix it, but I find the readme has some interesting information that might be useful. :read:

i have discovered that the neck seams disappear when characters are naked. This means vanilla oblivion clothing is the problem here

Do you have an HGEC stock replacer installed? The EVE project bundles it, but there are a few separate stock replacers available at TESNexus. Search "HGEC Stock" or "HGEC replacer"

the robe replacers

Oh, well you need a full stock replacer anyway. You might as well try the one from the EVE project. You do not need to use the EVE variant of the HGEC body. HGEC/Exnem-compatible is HGEC/Exnem-compatible.
