Looking For A Good Shotgun Mod

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 5:28 pm

I'm looking for something fairly simple: a good pump-action shotgun. Can anyone recommend/link to a good one, preferably one that actually has a pumping animation?

I'm kind of surprised that there aren't any I could find on Nexus that actually have a pumping animation.

There's no fitting animation to use with such a gun, so they will all look bit stupid while reloading (i once had a mod that included a pump-action shotgun, but used the Gauss Rifle Reload animation ). I think i've heard that it's not possible to make such an animation either.

I've found using the hunting rifle animation to be pretty dang close... at least for me, it makes the right noise and delays the shot

Thank you very much. It's too bad one can't really make a pump animation, but does this one at least delay firing? It would be kind of dumb to have it semi-auto with that model.

After playing around with it for a while I have no real complaints about it. IMO it is no worse than any other shotgun in game, modded or vanilla...DLC included. The best thing i can say is to try it out yourself. If it doesn't suit you, then you can always deactivate it with no harm done.

I downloaded it, and it's acting like I don't have ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated!, e.g. the texture is turning from tan to purple to gray, etc. I don't know why it would do that, I have several other mods with custom textures and models that work fine. Any ideas on why it would do that?

Try toggling the invalidation on and off, that may fix it. If not, check that the texture files are in the right place.

Never mind, I just realized there's a second file on the nexus page that fixes texture problems. Apparently, I wasn't the only one with this problem.

It is possible to give new weapon animations. Not entirely sure how, but it is.
EX: In a FWE you can find tommy guns which gave a custom grip animations.

Yes, but that's just a grip pose- it's probably harder to make a pump animation that works and looks right.

If it's really not harder, someone needs to make a pump animation. Right now.

I have found that using the firing animation from the lever rifle gives a decent approximation of a pump action. While the hand motion is wrong, motion of the shotgun and the fire delay work well. I also boost the animation speed for a more realistic effect.

This mod has an optional file that changes its animation to Lincoln Repeater's, and I agree, wit works pretty well.

I long for a proper pump animation. Using the animation for a lever action for a pump gun does not work in my book. When I shoot my Mossy 500s they never leave my shoulder for nothing but a quick pump, so anything but having the mod act like a semi auto breaks the mod for me. So in that case I honestly feel the only answer is to just get a mod that is of a semi auto shotty.
