Looking for a house. Suggestions?

Post » Fri Sep 09, 2011 4:24 am

Been playing Oblivion again lately and I've tried a bunch of house mods, but none are exactly what I'm looking for. I'm going to try All in One Basemant tonight. Tried ArmoryLab, and it is close to what I want, except I really don't like the display cases all over the place. I want to store stuff, not display it. Tried Highwood and it is very nice, but too "heavy". I really like the Mini Hideout in FO3. An Oblivion equivalent would be perfect.

Here are my preferences:

* relatively small, or at least with the useful stuff centralized close to where I zone in.
* lots of storage, preferably named (armor, weapons, books, etc), not just chests
* not super cluttered
* fast travel point nearby or preferably to it directly

Thanks for any suggestions!

Have you tried browsing http://oblivionsrealestate.com/ yet? That's a great place to start looking for house mods.

Well I know personally I have this house mod http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22846 in every game I play.

Also anything by WhoGuru is very nice and tends to be real easy on PC systems. You'll find her stuff over here ~>http://tesalliance.org/forums/ All her stuff is found in my game too, depending on which character I'm running at the time and what fits them.

Hope that helps!

Not sure it meets your need on lots of storage space but Wolfspike Castle is quite nice. In the betroom it has cabinets with named chest for arrows, bows, light armor, heavy armor, blades, and blunts. Compact. Version1 is north of IC and Version2 in way in Southeast corner of map, with a hunters lodge you own also.

Then off course Battlehorn Castle.

Thanks, I'll try the ones mentioned. I have the DLC like Battlehorn and have tried some of the larger mod ones. I like doing the quests and playing around in there a bit, but I'm really looking for something efficient. In, out, done. If it looks cool, that's great. But it could be a cave for all I care. ORE seems mostly to be oriented around cool-looking houses, which is why it doesn't really help me. For the first fifteen levels, I worked out of the stump in the Market District. Currently I'm pretty much working out of the upstairs office in Trade and Commerce. Battlehorn has something like two or three doors at least (and a significant walk) before you get to the storage area.

In older games, I'd just use the Bravil House. I was hoping there'd be a mod that is that compact, but also has the cool mod enhancements like enchanting altar, named or otherwise distinct containers, lab stuff, etc.

The search will continue! There are almost too many to look at!

My PC is fine, btw. No performance issues to speak of.
