Looking for a mod that adds Calibr ammo to levelled lists

Post » Tue Dec 07, 2010 10:06 am

Hi all!
I would like to use calibr ammo (9x19 subsonic) when creating new weapons. However, beyond a vendor, there is no way to get ammo. I would really like, for immersion and variety, to add this and other types of ammo to levelled lists, perhaps accompanied by custom weapons. I haven't found an easy to understand guide yet.

So, is there a mod that adds calibr ammo to levelled lists, or better yet, is there an easy to follow guide to levelled lists?

Both support calibr ammo.

xCALIBR Ammo Pack has a number of pre-configured ammo lists for use by modders. You can add them to vendors and various loot lists as you see fit.
20th century weapons has an "Alive" esp that distributes calibr ammo to vendors and loot lists.

How exactly do you do that?

It seems that for me, only certain ammunitions appear in vendors (9mm, 357 Magnum, 50 BMG, and 45 ACP). Of these, only 357 magnum bullets appear during looting. I currently have mods that use at least a third of the ammunition types in Calibr (40 S&W, 7.62x39, 7.62x54, 7.62x54mmR, 5.45x39, etc.). So I'm wondering, how do I go about adding those bullets to vendors or making them available for looting. Often times, I'll find raiders using melee weapons because they dont have ammo for a modded gun that they just happen to have in their inventory. Its driving me nuts to find an occasional supermutant rushing me with his fists because he has no 7.62x39 ammo for the AK in his inventory.

I saw that the xCalibr ammo pack has some preconfigured ammo lists, but the readme doesn't exactly say how to activate them. Any help would be appreciated. Hopefully this will help the OP as well...

xCal provides loot lists for every calibr ammo type. It also provide a number of pre-built compound lists you can mix and match to get the loadout you are looking for. Filter level items in GECK on "bullets". You will want to add your selection of ammo lists these entries.

Matching correct ammo to weapons is the responsibility of the weapon modder. Best way to accomplish this is to include the proper ammo in the "withammo..." lists which are then added to the leveled weapon lists.

There exceptions of course, but these tips should get you 90% there.

Im not sure I understood you correctly. Does this mean that I have to add each individual ammo to containers associated to a certain weapons (for example, add 45 ACP for an MK23 container.) So I would have to do this to the 50+ individual gun mods that I have (and make xcalibr.esm a master for all of them?)? or am i reading you incorrectly? I really dont know much when it comes to leveled lists in the GECK... Gotta read up on it...

For example, would it be easier to do what you said in a new esp (with calibr and xcalibr as masters), or should i just modify individual weapon mods?

Is there some sort of universal loot list in your mod that will add only bullets in use to general looting and too some enemies (so that they use the correct ammo for the modded guns they carry)? I think I saw an all ammo list, would this add every calibr ammo in use (and ignore the others), or would it add literally every ammo calibr has?

So many questions! Appreciate your help... any help. Really.

Well here's the thing . . . adding CALIBR ammo to loot lists, while not having enough other guns in your mod set to use that ammo is not really a good thing. You'll end up with all kinds of ammo you can't use.

My suggestion would be to pick one of the weapon compilation mods (like 19th / 20th century weapons or Arsenal Mod) that use CALIBR, add weapons that use the new ammo types, and add it all to leveled lists.

If there are other weapons you want to use on top of that, it's pretty straightforward to add more to your mod list.

Thats what I figured. Then I do indeed have to individually add all the ammo types I am currently using through xCalibr (if I dont use any compilation mod that is, which I dont). Which vanilla loot lists should I use to place some of xcalibr's ammo loot lists (or should I place xCalibr's ammo lists)?

i figure I'll make a new esp with xCalibr and Calibr as masters. Find some vanilla loot lists, and add to them some of xCalibr's leveled lists. Of course, adding only the leveled lists that contain ammo that I currently use in game. Which should I use though, the xCalibr ammo loot lists (which are compunded and have several items), or the xCalibr ammo lists (which is just the ammo)? Also, which vanilla loot lists are best for spreading certain ammo types commonly (ex, 7.62x54 NATO, 7.62x39, 5.45x39) and rarely (ex, 50 BMG, 50 AE, 9x39, 7.62x54mmR)?

Does the same apply if I want to add it to vendor lists? Instead of loot lists, find some vanilla vendor lists and add to them specific xCalibr ammo lists (not ammo loot lists I presume)?

There is no magic bullet list that knows what weapon mods you installed. You will need to do a little research. I think you are making thing harder than they need to be. I use a custom weapon mod that uses about 1/2 of the calibr ammo's. I built a plug-in comprised of maybe a dozen records that that effectively handles ammo distribution.

May I suggest that you first open geck and look at the leveled lists. It helps to have an understanding of how they are used in the game. Right-click on a leveled list and select "use information" to see how that list is used in the game.

The majority of ammo boxes reference the bullets100 list, so by modifying that list, you will effect most boxes. Loot on NPCs is trickier and is usually related to "withammo..."lists. Load all your weapons mods and use the "use info" trick to see where they are referenced. Note that most "withammo" lists reference scaled weapon lists rather than the lists themselves.

Vendors also mostly use the vendorammo100 list so changes here are high impact as well. There are also lists like "RareAmmo" you should inspect.

xCALIBR provides compound lists you can use, such as allammo, leveledammo, pistolammo, rifleammo, etc. These are generic and may not match your specific ammo requirements. Don't be afraid to modify them to meet your needs. The leveledammo lists match ammo to player level unlocking more powerful ammo as the player advances. Exponential ammo is more for treasure chests scaling amount of ammo rewarded with player level.

I strongly recommend CRAFT CALIBR ammo crafting While not comprehensive, it does mitigate the downside of collecting ammo for which you have no need. Instead, you can break down the useless rounds and craft ones that meet your weapon requirements.

I had already opened the GECK to see what was going on with leveled lists, but I never noticed that most of the loot boxes referenced the lootammobullets100/75/10 lists. So, taking your advice, I added in the bullets that I am currently using and did the same for the vendorammobullets100/75only lists. I tested it out and saw that after a reset, Moira was selling some Calibr ammo. So it worked. Thanks for your help, and your mod (which made this process a lot easier than if I would have done it manually). :tops:

Thank you guys very much for the help. Now subsonic ammo is a serious commodity for the stealth character!
