Looking For 1 Modder

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:19 am

Ok, me and another guy are making an island named Eyvindr meaning Island of wind. Firstly, it was called Long Isle, but we decided to convert it to a big island with beaches, villages, forests and a mountain. We have done the very rough start of the exterior.

Anyway, we need to make/finish:
The Exterior
Interiors
NPCs
Dialogue
Quests
Scripts
Read Me
Lore
Items
Sounds
Meshes
Textures
Icons

Our Island you see needs to have a lot of work put into it. The helper and I can do a few things, but will be doing it slowly. We aim for this mod to not take 1 year, but by doing it fast, and in great detail.

Firstly, the island will have a main town, then a few native villages. The town will have civillised people, trading ships, shops and shacks. The villages will be like the ashlandic tribes but island version.

There are 4 regions on the island. Beach, Town, Forest nad Mountain. The beach will have monsters suited to that environment and other things that suit it. The same goes with Forest. The mountain will have dark creatures that are protecting a dungeon inside the heart of the mountain.

We will make new monsters (more like use them from LadyE's webste :P) and also the vanilla versions.

The island is actually quite big. I cant explain how big it is, but just try and imagine Hawaii, but...10x smaller. Players will start off in the main town called Hazakan. Dont ask us how we made it. The player will then check around the area for quest starters etc etc or they can just run off into the wilderness.

The Beach is more of a safe place. The only monsters there would be things like Crabs, Jellyfish and some other random things. The jungle gets a bit harder. The level of the monsters will go up about 5-10 levels, depending how far you go in. THe mountain is where all the evil monsters are e.g. Minotaurs, giants and zombies. The dungeon will be even harder, with some sort of boss and guardians.

There will be a coral reef in the water to explore (we will need the meshes for the coral), ship wrecks and a few secret islands. There will be a few things to discover on the beach (Fair quality). Then in some caves, there will be guardians protecting good treasures, and in the mountian excellent items.

As you can see, it is a place where low levels can start to level up or high levels to just own everything and maybe get a challenge with a few guardians and bosses.

Ok, me and another guy are making a town. We have done....quite a few interiors, most of the exterior and NPCs. It is taking to long for just us two
You will find that making a mod takes time and effort and it doesn't happen instantly. I know of mods that took 5 years to do. Endless mods that never got done, despite having thousands of hours put into them.

I never did any large mods, but the bigger ones were measured in months.

Also, with Highschool on, me and the other person are taking too long because of homework. Just send me an email from the contacts down the bottom and i will tell you what to do and so on. Every few days you will email the new file to me and i will work on it then send it to the other person.

It also doesn't strike me as the best way to run a project, especial as for most people it is bottom on the list of priorities. I have had weeks where I intend to work on mods/projects in the evenings and something came up and I didn't manage to do anything. Would it not be better to allocate areas (Lets say 5 interiors) based on skill and what the other modder wants to do and then merge the interiors into the main mod when done. That way you can work concurrently when your time fits.

The other issue you may have is the "I will tell you what to do". I don't know about most people but when I made mods I did so because I wanted to get away from being told what to do and when to do it by.

Our town is on an island. The island is named Long Isle and we plan on making everything perfect and getting into the hall of fame. Our Dwemer ruin will be on a separate island with quests connecting to the main island. The Abandoned Prison will also be on its own island, and will have a quest in it, and modder made items at the end. I have already started the very very start of the coral reef and the very start of the abandoned prison.

You don't have enough detail. Seriously. Most people when considering looking to join a project want far more information.

Anyway, I wish you luck in finding an additional person.

Yup, what Yacoby said.
And don't worry if it takes a long time. Morrowind isn't disappearing, and the time will give your ideas room to grow.
If you need help with Dialogue and Quests because you haven't learned how to make them yet, I suggest checking out Calislahn's Dialog Basics Tutorial, http://www.calislahn.com/elder-scrolls/tutorials/ It's very helpful.

With "I will tell you what to do", i meant what we need to know, what we cant do etc.

I have never tried merging mods, just in case it stuffed up. If you could go into more detail on how to do this, i will be greatly appreciated.

Thanx pluto for the tutorial, I will go read it now.

To merge mods, you load all of the individual plugins (be sure to have one plugin checked as the active file, preferably the "main" plugin) and under File, select "Combine Loaded Plugins".

My specialty in modding is quests and dialogue; I could also create NPCs as needed. Do you and your partner have any designs for quests or outlines for NPCs and general dialogue? I could possibly help write quests, but not design anything other than miscellaneous type stuff. I don't really have the time to try and come up with a story-line.

What i meant with "I will tell you what to do" was I will tell you what needs to be done, what you can do, what you cant do, what has been done etc.

You don't have enough detail. Seriously. Most people when considering looking to join a project want far more information.Anyway, I wish you luck in finding an additional person.

This is when the email comes in. When i got a volunteer, i told him everything. When i say everything, i mean EVERYTHING. But this is a very short version of it.

The mod is a island in the middle of the ocean. The only way to get there is by a special boat. The Island has many shacks around. The center of the island has nothing at the moment, but it will have something e.g. a Marketplace, town square, dwemer ruin etc etc (undecided). The island named Long Isle gets its income from Pearl diving and dwemer items (If a dwemer ruin is established around somewhere). Because of this small income, the shops have low-medium quality items to sell with little money.

In many shacks there is a secret to find that will be made into a side quest. There currently is no main quest and/or side quests. There is no dialogue, but there are about 20 NPCs at the moment. There is currently a start of a cave called "Harvest Cave" a bit off of the shores of the island. (OMG I JUST GOT A MASSIVE IDEA FOR THE EXTERIOR!). There will be a coral reef, ship wrecks and secrets to find in the waters surrounding the island.

The main fear is morrowind disappearing. Secondly, i supose it will give me ideas, i got an idea while writing this reply (I thought of an exotic island with palm trees, bananas, fishing docks, a volcano and dungeons.

Soz 4 the late reply, i have had trouble replying with this website :s
