Looking for mods that use oblivion magic extender (OBME)

Post » Sat Jan 25, 2014 4:25 am

I am looking for any mods out there that make use of/require Oblivion Magic Extender so that I can handle all the various bits of OBME data in my libess library.

Any other OBSE plugins that change the esp/esm/ess format through their code, I need to know about those too.

I'm not aware of any that use it yet, but 'http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1479859-libess-10-now-available' is probably something you would be interested in.

I haven't seen any such list of OBME mods, but that doesn't mean much. Just that I haven't found such a thread.

Ummm, I WROTE libess (as you would have seen if you saw the thread you linked to) and want to find mods that use OBME so that I can support the OBME data in libess.

That said, I found what I needed. OBME 1.0 includes source code and documentation detailing the extra data that it adds to the esp/esm/ess files plus both cbash and tes4edit support the data plus OBME 1.0 contains example mods that seem to exercise all the extra data chunks.

What was confusing me was the code at https://github.com/JRoush/Oblivion-Magic-Extender which I now realize is code for a never-released presumably-abandoned version 2.0 of OBME and anything it might be doing as far as changing the esp/esm/ess files can be ignored as I doubt anyone has actually used that code to build a mod or save file.

If you check the required list at the http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/31981 mod page, you'll find:
  • http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/43709
  • http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/36595
  • http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/41434
  • http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/41178
  • http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/43704
  • http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/43162
  • http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/39878
There might be more around, for instance one of my mods can detect OBME and apply scripted stuff depending on its presence, or mod authors don't know they can use the requirement list to link to OBME.

For the libess library, what would be the interest of those mods? To learn what OBME does to their file and record structure?
The main problem with OBME is that it really needs an update to get rid of a few bugs, but the author is MIA. It is usable as it is, but- I just got ninja'd.
