looking for "morrowind redux"

Post » Fri Dec 03, 2010 4:49 pm

Hi all:

I'm thinking about having another go at Morrowind after years of not playing it, but I'm having trouble locating my favorite mod. It was called "Morrowind Redux" and it came out soon after the game did (within a year, I think). This was before there were any modding library sites, so it was only up at one person's personal ftp site, and only for a few months. While I've been able to locate many of the mods I used before as well as some interesting new mods that look fun, Morrowind Redux is what made the game playable for me. If anyone has a copy of it, or knows where I can get a copy, I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction. If it helps, I believe the creator was the same guy who did the "Green/Leafy/Forested Morrowind" mods, which are still around.

Thanks!

I have never heard of 'Morrowind Redux' and Google doesn't bring up anything useful , if you let us know what the mod did exactly , then i am sure we can recommend a suitable alternative.

Oh man that definitely rings a bell. Hopefully some one else can find it for you, but I'm going to look through some old files just in case I have it. Don't count on it though.

Edit: If it helps anyone else, the guy's elderscrolls.com username was maxpublic and on PES he just went by Max.

Edit2: Putting his username into the search for these newer forums (relatively speaking) shows him as being banned. That's weird.

The mod changed everything, which meant it wasn't very popular since it wasn't compatible with any other mod. As I recall, only a few hundred people used it. However, the creator folded in a bunch of other mods into Morrowind Redux so that you really didn't need those other mods. This is before people started demanding that you ask permission to use anything and everything that they ever did, even if all that they did was adjust some numbers on some tables. I remember the guy got disillusioned with the change in the modding community and left (he was one of the last of the original modders to go), although he did make Morrowind Redux privately available to a couple hundred of us for awhile after that, including all the latest changes, from a site he had access to.

The mod was amazing, really; it fixed spell-casting, enchantment, potion-making, leveling and point distribution, etc. etc. - essentially everything anyone ever complained about in Morrowind. It also included just about every clothing/weapon/armor mod ever made (at the time, at least), which no one else had even tried to do at the time. Morrowind turned from a cakewalk into a really difficult adventure - and one you could wander through very well dressed! :-)

I doubt anyone here has one of the later versions of the mod (it was only privately distributed at that point), but I'd be perfectly satisfied with one of the earlier versions. Any version, actually. After playing with Redux I couldn't imagine playing without it.

P.S. He seems to have disappeared from the internet altogether a few years ago. I've been unable to locate him and I don't get any response at all from his old email address.

I'm afraid I couldn't find it in any of my old files. In fact, I couldn't find any of my old Morrowind mods. I swear I had them backed up on a disc. I'm thinking I lost it in a move. I've moved many times since back then. Sorry dude.

You might want to check out Galsiah's Character Development (GCD) if you haven't done so already, as it changes some of the most important gameplay elements that you have listed.
