Looking for most up to date visual mod suite

Post » Fri Jul 15, 2016 5:18 pm

Could someone please provide me with links to the most up to date visual mod suite available for Morrowind? I used to have MGE or something many years ago, but I have since wiped my drives clean and freshly reinstalled.

I'm looking for something that is as much as possible one thing, not 45043 different mods. I am not horribly bad with computers, so I could probably figure out more complex installations myself, more than likely a youtube guide exists.

My rig can handle just about anything so no matter how extensive is fine. Also, if there is a consolidated list somewhere of links to mods that work together that'd be great.

By the way, I am referring to purely visual mods. Any other mods you can suggest for a fresh vanilla install that'd be great, for maximum gaming pleasure. One mod in particular I'd love is a mod that makes casting not so tiresome, as being a caster in Morrowind is absurdly underpowered, and magicka regen in MW is just dumb. I prefer the regen style of Skyrim, if that's possible. I remember VERY long ago I had a mod that did this, it made magicka regen in combat and even faster out of combat. But again, years ago, and haven't the faintest idea of what it was called.

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1586344-shelter-from-magnus-blaze-19-mge-xe/ is the most up to date version of MGE.

Keep in mind it doesn't improve textures or meshes. For that, you need to install the ones you think look best.

You can also use http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1541166-morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics-30-thread-7/ if you don't want to customize textures yourself, and just use a compilation that allows for other customizable features.

Everyone has a different load order that works for them, but you might disagree with the mods. Someone else's list might be a good place to start, but you're likely going to want to add/remove mods to fit your style.

But liek I said, if you don't want to customize, maybe use MSGO.

One good thing with visual mods is that they're unlikely to ever conflict. They'll just fit alongside each other in either ugly or nice manners.

We also have http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43001/? to help with esp conflicts.

There are many, many magicka regen mods to pick from. Check Nexus or http://mw.modhistory.com/ to find options.

I don't use regen mods myself since I like the way magicka works in Morrowind, but I know they exist. I believe the Morrowind Code Patch has an option for Oblivion-style casting--and MCP is a must have, since it fixes many of Morrowind's core problems including save game corruption.

Definitely recommend you check out the Symphony mod http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43790/?which is more recent than MGSO v3, although it is different... So it's a matter of taste but that's what the screenshots are for.

Wow, that actually looks very intriguing to me. I'd be very interested, if it were not almost completely in Russian..:(

I have a question. If i download and install your first link, MGE XE, is that the complete thing, and do I still also need to install MSGO? or is that included in MGE XE?

EDIT.

Shoot; i think i done messed up. I installed MGE XE before I realized it didn't have MGSO in it. So then I read that MGSO has MGE XE already within it? so if I try to install MGSO now am I going to get an error?

Just to clear some confusion:

MGSO is a huge compilation of graphical mods and 3rd party programs including MGE. MGE is "just" a graphic extender program for Morrowind, no mods included there.

If you plan on installing MGSO, I strongly advise that you start from a clean install.

Don`t worry about it, the Mod have a Lite version in English. All graphical component will be working perfectly.

If You install the Full version of the project, also all new content will be working correctly except only few quests and some dialogues options. It`s are not make High troubles for game play. The Full Version is well made and incredibly transforms all the Game. You`ll not regret about it! :D

I did start with a clean install, but I installed MGE XE first. I guess I have to uninstall again and reinstall to install MGSO?

No, but MGSO will overwrite the MGE XE with an old version. You just need to install the new MGE XE again. Also it will install an old MCP so you'll want to install the new version of that too.

Install MGSO v3, install the newest version of MGE XE, install the newest version of MCP, and then install the English lite of Symphony, all of these can be found on the nexus.

That's pretty much it.

Hmm..okay, this is getting more confusing than anticipated. Probably because I'm tired though. :P

So..at the moment, I have a FRESH Morrowind install with the LATEST version of MGE XE installed.

So let me get this correct, you're all telling me to now :

-Install the latest MGSO which will install an outdated version of MGE XE as well

-Reinstall MGE XE latest version after

-Install MCP latest version last

And I'll be set?

Is there anything I need to know about Symphony? Does it change the content and quests? I tried to read the faq but it's written very evidently by someone who English is their second language and doesn't make a lot of sense.

I believe there's an English version that doesn't have any new content, just the graphics. That is after all what Miktorch said and I believe he was part of the team that made it.

If by "set" you mean you will have a bug filled game, then yes, you will be "set".

MGSO has a crapton of bugs, including a broken mesh on a common table, doors that don't work, quests on solstheim that are broken because of broken containers and lanterns with collision that block the passages in Telvanni tubes, not to mention the annoying "Whose there, goodbye" bug. There is an unofficial patch and a laundry list of a dozen other fixes. Here is a link to a thread that details the numerous bugs in MGSO and how to fix the them. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1541166-morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics-30-thread-7/?fromsearch=1

Edit: also if installing Symphony, I'd recommend installing the MGSO bug fixes first, to prevent overwriting any Symphony files with MGSO bug fix files.

If are you interesting something else, ask.

Yes, Lite version does no change anything, except the graphics.

Yes, I'm an old beta-tester of the project and know a lot of interesting things. :D
