I looking for one of those obscure tools

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2011 10:04 pm

Ok, I knew the day would come, I lost my shivering Isles disc -__- ;( So I need to reinstall the game. Now my old install has shivering Isles. I need to find the tool that deletes all the mods and leaves the Data file vanilla. For the life of me I cant find it.

Wait, what? Why would you possibly need to reinstall the game if you lost your SI disc? My SI disc is sitting in a corner, collecting dust. You only need your Oblivion disc to play, even with SI installed.

If you can at least find your serial code you can put that in Steam and you don't need the disk ever again.

Well for a back up, I copy the oblivion folder to an external drive once i have the mods stable. I have windows 7 64bit now :D. I have installed Oblivion but SI part in on the external drive. There is a tool out there that strips out all files added by mods, leaving me with Oblivion -SI to copy over the new Oblivion install on my windows 7 rig.

All you need to do is copy over the SI copy of your Oblivion.esm file and your ShiveringIslesDLC.esp file. That's it. There's no need to "strip out" all the files added by mods or whatever. Unless I am utterly confused by what you are saying.

Until Steam goes under in the great video game industry crash of 2014, that is.
