Looking for some texture packs for landscapebricksImperial C

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 12:09 pm

Playing Oblivion, I'm quite happy with the textures on armor, they don't look half bad. But it looks as if Bethesda just..stopped caring..and the textures on things like walls and the bricks etc just look HORRIBLE.

Look at this screenshot I just took:

Great texture on the armor IMO, the face looks decent, but those textures on that brick wall to the guards right look laughable, I mean, just atrocious. Any mods that fix this and add higher res textures to these things? I'm not looking for a complete overhaul or anything like that, my rig probably couldn't handle that, but just some simple texture packs for cities etc?

Turning on Anisotropic Filtering in your graphics card panel will help a lot.

I'd rather just get texture packs, as texture packs don't cause the massive FPS drop that turning on anisotropic filtering does.

I suppose it depends on the GPU and other components, but for me enabling AF has never been a big performance eater. As to IC texture packs, I'm partial to "Darker Regal IC" and "Imperial City Reloaded". (I use a mixture of the two.)

QTP3 Redimized, Bomrets texture packs, and Really Textured Normal Maps are all great texture packs.

http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/903-beta-insanitys-imperial-city/ - although it's not fully complete, what's there is pretty awesome IMO.

If you're just looking to retexture the Imperial City, I highly recommend http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15500. It changes the look of the IC from a dingy, moss covered slum into the grand looking Ayleid inspired place it should be. The version I linked has been redimized to be less taxing on your system and includes the normal maps that were missing from the original version.

"Imperial City Reloaded"
I just tried this myself and I have to say I'm really liking it a whole lot. Here's a link, if anybody's interested: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39936

Decrepit, im on a comp that is partioning windows from Mac hardware, and my Gpu is a bit dated, and it wasnt meant for high end gaming regardless. So turning on AF drops my fps a good chunk, while my gpu can handle most high res texture packs for some reason.

Thanks for the other replies folks.
