Looking for a song...

Post » Thu Apr 01, 2010 4:33 am

Okay, so I've been looking for this song for about a month, and I can't find anything. I asked a friend who I know has the song, but I know so little about it that I couldn't describe it, and since he has even more music than me we were both going insane trying to find it based on my vague information. But anyway, hopefully someone here might be able to help.

The song starts off with a piano and a man singing, I can't remember the lyrics but it's a pretty calm start. Then a drum machine kicks in and eventually it goes kind of Daft Punkish (Not sure how to describe it) and I remember hearing "Get me outta here" in the chorus while the drum machine and a synth is playing.

I just can't find this song, I'm just completely stumped. I'm pretty sure it's a relatively new one as it played on a radio station that basically plays the latest pop music abou a few weeks ago, maybe three weeks.

If that is right, I'd be surprised. Don't really listen to a lot of mainstream stuff.

No, that's not it. There's no rapping in the song I'm looking for, and there a synth that featured pretty heavily throughout the song. Thanks anyway though.

Newer song? Old song? Male or female singer? Genre? Any hints at all you can give us?

I mentioned two of those in the OP :P

Anyway, male singer, and I assume the song is fairly new as it played on a station that features mainly the latest pop music. I have no idea what genre to put it in, I know nothing about the different electronic genres, but a drum machine and synth was featured heavily, the piano was only in the start I think.

But it's neither 'Daft Punkish' nor a man.

That sounds like that would be it. Very good. Now we just have to wait for Urge to agree.

Hey thanks for this; I've heard this song as well *somewhere* in the past, and thought it was awesome. Was this on TV/used on a trailer/something?

Ugh, Pendulum. They used to be awesome but now they sound like an American boy band, they completely sold out. There's nothing drum and bass about them any more. Same thing happened to Dizzee Rascal. He went from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubesJeT9Bus&feature=related to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiBxYEPbDaw

Edit: just pointing out that I'm not using the term American pejoratively. US boy bands have a particular sound.

I like "Fasten Your Seatbelt", "Hold Your Colour" and "Tarantula" by them. Also, "Slam" is the best song/video combination ever. This song ("Watercolour") is less drum-and-bass and dance than their other stuff. I don't even think I'd hear it at a dance club around here.

Yeah they like to change their style on every album they release :P

"Propane Nightmares" is my favourite though :)
