Lookout River Passage: Roleplay Topic

The six rookie wasteland explorers entered the dining room of the S.S. Pungel.
They had been sailing for around seven hours, but had mostly been in their own rooms the whole time.
But at around supper time, the ship's intercom sounded loud.

"Report to da ship's main dining hall, all passengers. Free dinner will be provided!"
The ships captain. Luke Jackson.

Gules wandered into the dining room. He was the first one there, and sat on the left of Luke.

"Well hey there boi! Yeh ready for some Molerat steak?" The man laughed.

"Fancy... You know how to treat your guest eh?" Gules answered.
"Repeat buisness. It's the best. Now boy, tell me bout yourself. What do you do?"

Gules thought about it. Do?

"I guess I study animals. Like molerat. Did you know they occasionally cannibalize on eachother?" Gules laughed.

He begin to laugh more, as Luke choked on his bite of steak.

Then the next guest entered the room.

((For OOC, please use (()). I set it up for the next person. Please make conversation with eachother for now.))

Alex stepped into the dining room, looking at the two men sitting on some makeshift seats, which were just wooden barrels. Alex took a seat on one of the barrels, and looked at his plate. Molerat steak.

Better than nothing.

He picked up a rusty fork that was laying beside his plate, along with a dirty knife. He cleaned his silverware off with his hoodie, and began to make conversation with the ferryman and the passenger that were already in the room.

"Nice place you've got here." Alex said with a chuckle. He cut off a piece of the steak, and took a bite.

Not bad.

((No problem. If you could, using colors for dialogue is the best.))

"Thanks there boy. So, what were you doin' out in the ol' Capital Wastey?" Luke winked, taking a bite of his steak too. "Ol' Gules be telling me he's an animal studier. Ain't that cool?"

"Hey Luke, what can we expect on our safari tour... thing..?" Gules asked.

"Haha! Well Mr. Andrews, if I told ya, wouldn't be a suprise then would it?" Luke laughed.

David entered the dining hall, still groggy after his nap, and not to happy about the first smell hitting him being the pungent odor of singed molerat.

"Wow, good eats" David laughed to himself.

He looked down at the rusted knife and fork that had been provided, as well as the steak. A charcoal briquette of what once was only barely food. He chose to use his own combat knife and fingers over the "silverware"

The food tasted a little better than he had expected, high quality dirt, but David chewed on, he had not eaten for a day and was rather hungry.

"So um Lucas is there anything you can tell us about where we're going?" asked David

Kevin slowly entered the dining room, looking at the other wastelanders and what they were eating. Looking for a chair, he sat down and grabbed a plate full of the food. Kevin at this point didn't care what he was eating, he was starving after not having anything to eat in a while, while in his room. While eating, Kevin noticed Gules and Luke talking to each other.

"Well Luke, since we've been here for a while, why can't you just give us a tease about what we'll see there?"

Waiting for a response, Kevin started to drink the glass of dirty water trying to wash down the food.

"So, um, Lucas, is there anything you can tell us about where we're going?" asked David

((Superb! Except for the Dialogue. If you use a color, it makes it easier to see. I choose brown and green for my guys. Also, in the qoutes, I edited in commas. In my humble opinion, commas are the light giver. Also, saying hello would of been great. Just remember to add in trivial things like that))

"Well i'll tell ya boy, it ain't sunshine and Dandy Apples." Luke said, suddenly becoming serious.

"Now, I want you to come and all, but be wary. I've had three clients die on my safari's. And those are only a few days long. There is a lot of danger."

He saw everyone's worried faces.

"Dun worry mates! Stay with me, and pay attention. I'm sure the six of you will do fine. Now, as for what you might see there, look at this. "

From under his bag, he produced a large, plump fruit.

"Punga Fruit. It grows wild, but the refined ones are the best."

Responding to Lucas, Kevin forgot to take a mentat before leaving the cabin, and said in a rude manner:

"Beats me. I bet they are just not coming in because the food here is worse than their own feces."

Kevin shrugged his shoulder and went back to eating the food, which was rather ironic considering what he just stated in a grumpy way.

((Sorry for responding slowly in this, i'll try to pick up the pace))

Kevin looked at the odd looking fruit. In the 25 years he spent seeing things he wish he never had saw, the fruit just confused him. In curiosity, Kevin decided trying to sound more friendly.

"Punga fruit? What's so special about it?"

Alex swallowed a piece of steak, and shifted his eyes over to the ferryman.

"Well, theres not much to tell," Alex said, brushing some dirt off of the sleeve of his hoodie. "one day, I woke up lying on the ground in the middle of the wastes, and I can't remember a thing that happened before that. There was a decently high cliff standing infront of me, and a rock with some blood dripping down the sides of it. So, I think I might've fell off the cliff, hit my head on a rock, and suffered from some seriously, serious memory loss. A few hours ago, while being chased by a group of angry Talon Mercs', I noticed your ship. So I came aboard to escape them." Alex replied. "How about you?" He asked, chewing on another piece of steak.

((That's alright. I thought it was kinda cool.))
"Being chased! Wow, thanks for choosing me as an escape route! I don't have much of a story to tell. Sorry." Luke laughed.

Luke stood up, and grabbed Kevin's plate. He dumped the remaining steak back onto the serving tray.

"Then go eat your own feces..." He grumbled. Gules choked on his steak, letting out a small chuckle.

"Hey man, chill out! Who pissed in your cram?"

Luke stroked his hair back "This fruit is not only radiation free, delicious, and not-expirational, It can burn away stored radiation!"

Alex started to laugh as Luke poured what was left of the man's steak back onto the tray. He looked up at the brownish-yellow fruit that Luke dangled from his hand.

"It removes radiation?" Alex asked.

Alex took the last bite of his steak, and layed his sliverware down on his plate.

"I'm sure that'll be a nice substitute for rad-away. I can barely afford that stuff nowadays anyway." Alex said chewing the last bite of his steak. "About how much of this stuff can we expect to find at this place that your taking us to?" Alex asked.

Kevin realizing through Luke's response, it would be best to go back to the cabin and make sure he got some more sleep, and some 'medicine'. Getting out of his chair, and started walking back towards his room:

"Alrighty then, i'll head off back to my room. Don't forget to wake me up when we actually get there."

He didn't feel like doing anything much after the dinner. Kevin went back to his room, and realized how messy it's been. After trying to go cold turkey on his addiction, he trashed the once clean room into something more like a raiders personal space, without the chains, blood, or dead bodies.

Kevin looked in his backpack found what he was looking for. A small plastic bottle he wrote over that said Pills.

"Might as well take one now...", Kevin said to himself. He took one of the mentats and swallowed it down without anything to drink. Following that, he decided he might as well sleep and wait for the time to pass by. After lying down on the old cot and turning the light he had off, he slowly, but surely went off to sleep.

Lincoln walked into the mess hall, he saw a few of the other guys already sitting down. They were eating and talking, probably talking about the expedition. Lincoln sat down on a barrel, across from the rest of them.

"Well now, what's everyone doin' out here without me?"

Lincoln picked up a Punga fruit and bit into it, it had a nice sweet and sour taste to it, and the flesh was soft.

"Not bad, I here there are groves o' these in Point Lookout. Matter o' fact I've almost been there once, I got to the border by a river, but I turned back. You see, not far from my spot I could see some things, people, but its like they weren't people at all. Their faces were misshapen, and they were dancin' round a fire, with something cooking over it that looked like... a human."

Lincoln faded off into silence, and took another bite of his Punga.

Sheesh don't piss off the captain David thought to himself as he grabbed one of the fruit from the middle of the table.

"This smells rotten, maybe a little to ripe." said David But that molerat steak wasn't any better he thought.

The fruit tasted decent and David actually felt a little bit of relief from the constant nausea of radiation sickness.

"Good pick on the fruit cap'n, ill just grab one for the road and be off to bed" said David as he grabbed another fruit, and started for the door.

"I guess ill meet the other fella in the morning, night everybody." He said as he walked out the door into the poorly lit, creaky hallway that led to his room. He walked inside and lit the old oil lamp hanging on the wall next to his doorway. He then lit up one of his cigarretes, and without wasting a moment fell on to his sagging hammock.

"This should be an interesting trip" David thought out loud as he snubbed out his cigarette on the heel of his boot. Then he lay back and let the drifting of the boat, and thecomforting light of the moon lull him to sleep.

Italic Messup/Ect

((More punctuation. Also, when using italics, hilight the text you want italicized, and hit the button. Same with bold and underlined.))

Luke winced at the outsiders knowledge. This was his game.
"Well there youngin, yes there be groves. Groves n' groves. So many groves." Luke said scornfully. "But what's that you been saying about creepy peepy canibalisticals? Mighta been the tribals, but it probably wasn't a real human. Made from weeds and punga pits."

Damn kid. Those tribals 'll mind there buisness fine. Wonder what he did see?

"Spooky..." Gules muttered. He was finishing his steak aswell, and starting to eat a particularly light punga fruit.

"Cap'n, on this little 'riverboat' thing, how bigs the boat gonna be? And how long will it be? Oh oh, and where will we stay?" Gules continued.

He was imagining a old holotape he once listened to. It was a part from some big story. Six guys were in a boat,
and some big old dinosaur was chasing them. The river was rough, but it was so cool to be in the boat.

"It's big enough! It's bout as big as this dining room, but with seats. We will be sitting most of the tour. The tour doesn't have a set ammount of time. It depends on the river mostly. What was the last one?" Luke retorted.

"Sleeping arrangements." Gules reminded him.

"We have plenty of little stop and buildings we can camp at. I also have plenty of sleep bags and pillows."

Gules sat back in his chair. This guy's good. Can't say ol' kev is my favorite, but the crews alright too. Damn, i'm ready to start this thing!

Alex grabbed a punga fruit from the center of the table, and took a bite. It tasted sweet, it was juicy. He laid back in his chair and began to eat the rest of the punga fruit.

"So we'll have some crazies to fight then? Sounds good to me." Alex laughed, taking another bite of the punga fruit.

Alex enjoyed a challenge. He wasn't really afraid of battling, primarily because he was so agile, and could out-maneuver almost anything that challenged him. He assumed these, "Cannibalistacals" as Luke called them, shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

"So Luke, you imagine we'll arrive at this, "riverboat", of yours by morning?" Alex asked Luke.

"Now you see here, I know what I saw. They weren't no Tribals if that's what you're thinking. I met the Tribals up at the old Cathedral, they were friendly folk, well friendly enough. I'm not sure what I saw, but they were dancing, eating, and hootin' and hollerin' in a slang not even I could understand." Lincoln said, and he was serious too.

Lincoln pulled one of his pistol's from his belt and began looking it over, deep in thought.

"If I see any o' those... things... they're gonna fear what lurks in the shadows, not me... not me." Lincoln looked around at the others, then holstered his pistol and took another bite of Punga.

((Just thought a little backstory through clever roleplaying would help out explain some more about my character))

It was a rather cold night, despite Kevin wearing his sweater. He was on the night shift at his town, guarding the entrance from any violent outsiders. Kevin thought about what to do with his life. He has already spent 2 years guarding here during the night. Kevin looked at the sign behind him. "Rusted Acres - Refuge for the wasteland!". He laughed at the sign, thinking about how ironic it was that he had to shoot on sight any violent wastelanders.

Just then, he heard some talking in the distance. Coming towards him was 3 raiders. The look of them showed that they were willing to do anything to survive, as he saw how weak and skinny they were. One of the raiders aimed his rifle at Kevin. Kevin was in shock, seeing as he never really had a violent encounter. Sometimes, a stray dog or mole rat would come charging, but they were nothing. Nervous, Kevin picked up his hunting rifle, and aimed towards the raider. The raider fired the rifle, and the sound of the shot woke up practically half of the town. Kevin noticed the bullet missed, and was ready to fire. If the sound of the first shot woke up half of the town, the second definately woke up the other half. Kevin saw the bullet go right into the raiders chest, and watched him stumble to the ground, yelling in pain.

The other two raiders were armed with melee weapons, who were enraged after they saw one of them go down. Kevin noticed they were now running frantically towards him, yelling with bloodlust roars. Just as he was about to fire his second shot...

Then, Kevin woke up. He noticed he fell off his cot, and that he spilled his glass of water he had next to him. The sound of him falling might have woken somebody up. Quickly, Kevin cleaned up the spill, and hurried back to bed so anyone who entered would just see him sleeping. He then for a while, he rested, thinking about what would happen to him in the following days, and if there would be any excitement.

(OOC: Dudes, too fast, why leave me behind? Gah, I'll just say I skipped dinner, sorry if anyone wanted to talk to me)

IC:

I sat where I was, eating my own food, I didn't really trust this guy, whoever he was, he seemed a little rough around the edges if I'd thought of a way to say it myself. I tore into the small bit of meat, it wasn't very often that you got to eat Mirelurk! I looked around and absolutely no one was around, so I finished eating as quickly as I could, I lay back down on my bed and I pulled out a pencil and some paper. I started writing down some things about the creatures that I'd heard about.

Swamplurk:

Apparently, this is a rare breed of Mirelurk, different from the Mirelurk King only in gender, I wonder if these Swamplurk's will be possible of conceiving? Either way, I guess I'll be able to find out when we get to our destination.

I shortly fell asleep afterwards, leaving a giant scrawl on my piece of paper.

((Hey Francois, I see why. We started earlier, and seeing as how you are normally on at this time, which is 2:30 for me, mostly everyone else is off. Hopefully we can smooth it and keep it movng at a steady pace for everyone.))

Kevin tried for about an hour, and couldn't get himself to sleep. The dream he had kept going through his mind, and thinking about what happened that night. He got up, and turned on the small, but rather bright lamp on the table he had. He saw all of his equipment was still on the table, which was being used as a workbench now. Kevin sat down in the chair nearby the table, and noticed how his back was sore.

"Must have been from the fall. Probably smashed into something.", he told himself, while puting his sweater on.

Looking at his rifle, he was thinking about what he had as weapons. He was never a really good combat expert. Kevin grabbed his rifle, along with a clip of ammo, and kept on emptying it and reloading it. He thought about the times where he nearly got himself killed because he couldn't reload fast enough. He would spend his time practicing on his posture and reloading, hoping that it might help when he gets to Point Lookout.

Eventually, he would leave his room. It was just a matter of either someone knocking on his door, or waiting for the ferryman to call everyone together again. Until then, he practiced.

David woke up around midnight, for almost two hours he lay in his hammock and listened to the waves as they hit the sides of the boat.

Might as well do something productive He thought as he grabbed his Sniper rifle, a scoped KAR98 to be exact.

David walked through the poorly lit hallways of the boat, until he found his way up a stairway. He grabbed the side rail and was taken aback by the coating of a slimy mold,

That must have been what ive smelled! He thought as he climbed the stairs, unaided by a hand rail

David sat down at the end of the boat. He could see fairly well for it was almost a full moon and everything was cast in a blueish light. He took out his sniper as he started to disassemble it, clean it, check the parts, put it back together, and tune the scope, just as he had every night for the last 8 years that he had owned this gun. While he worked, he started to remember the first time he had held a rifle.

It was his fifth birthday, and his father had brought home a thing from the market, a thing shaped somewhat like a stick. for the next month his father had taught him everything he needed to know about his new BB gun, over and over, uintill it was ground into his head. From that point on he loved guns. He loved the power he felt wielding a rifle and wanted to continue having that feeling. When he turned 8 his father had found him an old .22 for him to have, but this gun had a scope. once again for a month he was taught the proper way to handle and care for a gun. He had become good at sniping because the only thing david was aloud to shoot were mirelurks, a hundred feet below him. By the time he was 11 he could shoot one dead with a single bullet. When David was 12 he started studying under Seagrave Holmes, and by the age of 15 when he recieved his scoped KAR, he was ready to modify it to his liking.

He looked at his rifle. It had two interchangeable barrels on a slider, and a fantastic scope he'd found by some luck in the market. He was very proud of his gun.

David sat back to look at the stars and the moon and lit up a cigarrete, throwing the match into the water, and he waited until morning

((Don't worry guys. If you can't get one a lot, it's alright. Also, Francois, your open to your own posting style, but I would prefer if you used 3rd person. Since everyone else is, you know?
Also, where did Francois hear about animals from point lookout? As for Trace, that wasn't unnecessary. If you don't mind, I'm gonna do it myself. Ohohohoho!))

Gules began to yawn. It was getting late, and there were only four of them left. Alex, Lincoln, Luke, and himself.

"Well guys, It was nice meeting you." Gules grinned. He shook Luke's hand, then Lincolns, then he got to Alex.
He shook his hand and grinned. "Looking forward to killin' some crazies with ya."

Gules walked off, back to his room.

Crazies? Swampfolk probably... But this Lincoln... I haven't seen swampfolk do that... Luke thought.

"We'll be there by morning. Tell you two something though. Those crazies, don't sweat em." He promised.

I hope...

-------

Gules lied awake, reading his book on capital wasteland animals.

Radroaches: Attracted to radiation. Travel in groups of 4-7. Ect.

He read part of his book, about he came to study animals.

I was born in megaton. Home to famous wasteland author and merchant,
Moira Brown. When I was little, I started sweeping her store for a couple of caps a day.
Eventually, she started having me do other things. "Go collect some molerat fur please!" or
"Bring me a bottle of bloatfly poison, honey!" And I did. She payed me in caps, and the occasional gift.
A box of bubblegum. A combat knife. The kind of stuff a kid would want.

At 17, I got bored of sweeping her shop. But I had loved working with the animals for her.
So that's what I did. Found out everything I could about them.

Gules Andrews- Ecologist.

And i'll be damned if I don't complete this book for every damn remaining animal.

Alex suddenly woke up, his face pressed against the splintering, wooden "dining table" that he had recently eaten dinner on.

"Jeez..how did I fall asleep here..?" Alex thought out loud, yawning.

He leaned back, lifting his head off the table. He was so tired, he nearly fell backwards into the wall, as he attempted to stand up. He stumbled out of the doorway, leading into the halls of the boat. He could hear the waves lightly falling against the side of the ferry. He began to trudge to his temporary room, with each step a drawn-out creaking noise released from the wooden floorboards of the ferry. He approached the door of the room he was staying in, and pushed it open. He groggily walked through the doorway, and shut the door. He stumbled over to his bed, and collapsed onto it.

Alright, we've got a long day ahead of us, so I better just go right to sleep.

Alex shut his eyes, and within seconds, was out like a light.

(OOC: Scientist's hear a lot of things from fellow scientists, plus, from his point of view, it's a myth from the Capital Wastes. Oh and I'm sorry, posting in Third Person is too difficult for me, I can't remember all my names all the time and I'm always used to writing in 1st person... It feels more right.)

IC:

I woke suddenly, panting and gasping, I shut my eyes again and I tried to remember why I'd done it. I didn't open them again and I just lay there, sifting through my memories, looking for the trigger, after being able to find nothing, I just continued laying where I was. I opened my eyes and I flicked on a small light for a lamp beside my cot, I picked up my book and I started looking through it, trying to find my studies.

Super Mutants:

Dangerous creatures, tending to travel in groups, always so determined to kill...
Never reasonable, always determined to capture as well, different types of Mutants.
There are the normal Mutants, quite weak and using pathetic weapons, these are very easy to kill.
Then there are the Brutes, carrying Automatic Weapons or sometimes Sledgehammers.
After that are the Master's, they explicitly use Ancient Chinese Assault Weapons and Super Sledgehammers.
Then, there are the giants, the Behemoth's, ugly things that carry huge weapons, killing and maiming anything and everything.
Last, but not least, probably the worst, are the Overlord's, tall things that carry special customised Laser Rifle's that shoot 3 beams.
As well as that, the Overlord's sometimes carry giant Sledgehammers, smashing things into small pulps.

I smiled at my own researching and I soon fell back into a blissful sleep.
