Looks Like We Cannot Equip Shield To Right Hand...

I'm not doubting you, but can you really see that? All I can make out on my comp is an arrow showing up when somethings equiped.

When Todd is scrolling through items the button layout is in the bottom left of the UI. A to equip shield, X to drop, Y to favorite. All of the others weapons shows LT/RT to equip. That option isn't available for the shield.

Sure. Still it's an omission to a system not many asked for in the first place. Refer to my post above.

Maybe the shield is auto equiped in the hand in which you hadn't a weapon. This way you could equip a weapon in the left hand and the shield would go to the right one.

I'm fairly confident the only reason this isn't included is because they would need to re-do all the animations mirrored. If they "ran out of time" on beast feet... well you can imagine.

But the option to equip weapons and spells to the left hand are available. They had time to do all of those animations, but not one extra for the shield?

Reminds me of when I got Fallout 3 and VATS didn't work because my computer has my mouse buttons switched. What a confusing thing that was.

Ah-ha! I see it now. :P Good eye.

Well, it's a bummer for lefties, and it's always possible the ui isn't finished (weightless carrots), but it isn't looken good.

I'm left handed but it doesn't really mind me. I'm not of those people that write with my left but do everything else with my right, i.e. scissors.

Time is time, if they ran out there's not much we can do about it, besides, consider how the whole game now revolves around hot swapping and dual wielding two items, guess if the ever intended to do it it was last on the list so suffered the cut.

Don't get me wrong, I would have liked to have seen left handed working correctly but I can say the same about so much.

It matters if you cannot wield a shield on the right, possibly a gamebreaker in fact.

The left mouse button does the left hand action. The right mouse button does the right hand action. It is a well established convention that the left mouse click is the "trigger" button. In oblivion, left click means attack, right click means block.

To break from user expectation and decades of habit would be a colossus mistake, unless they have a switch left hand / right hand option.

You always get the option to change your controller layout in the options menu, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Which hand you favor should be part of character creation and your favored hand gives you a slight bonus for any weapon wielded in it while the other hand has a slight reduction. Weird that shields can't just be put in either hand. Sounds like it would have taken more work to implement that restriction than not.

It has been confirmed that we can't dual wield shields a while ago, but it doesn't really matter in which hand you equip it.

:cryvaultboy: I must've missed that...

I'd rather have that Easterling armor on your icon.
Oh and choosing which arm the shield goes into.
An Easterling shield.

I know what you mean, would kill for a helm that had a mask like that. Maybe not the spikes on top tough.

@Honey This isn't about dual wielding shields. Some people wanted a sword/shield combo, but sword in left hand and shield in right. Looks like this isn't possible.

What he said was entirely related. If you can dual-shield, then you can equip shields in either hand... I'm mainly pointing this out this out because I love his name... Honey Badgers are awesome!

Huge disappointment if its true.

I made a thread a long time ago called Lefties Unite!

I thought it was all settled. If not i hope some modder gets it into the game this time.

Man, if this is a huge dissapointment, I'd hate to see what happens when your sports team loses a match -_-

But we can't dual wield shields. Pretty sure that's confirmed.

I'm left handed, but left for shield and right for weapon actually seems more comfortable to me. In fact i tend to not do the lefty option for most games, such as guitar hero and fps games. doing the lefty option for those just seem awkward. Most leftys i know are the same way. Although i still kinda want it in the game for the leftys that do use the lefty option, role playing, or just for the sake of not having everyone in skyrim be right handed.

EDIT: You can still be left handed i take that back lol. I guess what i meant is not everyone in skyrim that uses a shield be right handed.

I'm the opposite- I'm right handed, but prefer left for weapons, because I'm used to mouse1 always being attack, but I still want the buttons to match the hands.

I can see at character creation screen you choose your strong hand.
Or in option.
