....................yeah I was about to rage and say anything from G4 is Ignorance.........but...no this sounds exactly like Oblivion lol another interview said that the Combat wasnt different from Oblivion as well, NPC's still slid away just like in Oblivion.

But look, he have several months, Hope?

Read most of the articles, and didn't see anything about that. So source please?

Yeah, I'm gonna request a source from MK about that too, I never read anything regarding NPC's "sliding away".

I wouldn't be surprised if there were little stupid AI quirks like that

In fact I almost expect it

I can't imagine it would be easy to predict every little aspect of battle and fine tune the AI to it. If it's just dialogue that's a little whacked then I don't see a real problem with it (that isn't to say I wouldn't want them to try to fix it but if it doesn't make the cut then it's perfectly understandable with everything else they have to accomplish). I do have a problem with, for example, an enemy casually going about their business when their buddy just had their head turned into a pin cushion. So long as they react to dead bodies then I'll be cool with it and that's pretty much what it sounded like to me in the article.

The NPC's buddy got killed, had a stupid moment, but still went on to look for and attack the player.

Even then, we would need to know where the body was. Was it on a slope in a slippery cave floor? Because a body will definitely slide when getting hit with force and falling on a slipper slope. The physics is 99% sure to be improved because people need to realize that Oblivion was made when Havok physics was basically brand new, it's been many years and several new havok builds and the havok physics have become pretty damn impressive.

The NPC's buddy got killed, had a stupid moment, but still went on to look for and attack the player.

Well there may be a good explanation for this. In one of the interviews, it talked about how the dovahkiin in the video kind've had low stealth because he had been caught before. So chances are, she heard him shoot the bow and said that as the arrow was in air. That would explain why she said the line and she still went looking for the killer of her partner.

Until I see the goofy AI with my own eyes, I won't believe they would leave it in.

To be honest, I actually enjoy AI like that. It amuses me when NPC 1 takes an arrow to the face and NPC 2 deduces that it must have been his eyes playing tricks on him. I also love seeing flying deer and donkey-women in Red Dead Redemption, and wacky physics in any game.

Amusing glitches and screw-ups are a good chunk of my gaming experience. If the game is flawless, then that is a flaw to me. So I say bring on the stupid AI. As long as they aren't so stupid that they impede the game, I'll look forward to a few chuckles here and there.

Yeah just like some suggest here, it's probably just that the AI doesn't notice two things at the same time, and more than likely heard THE PLAYER instead, just as her friend was getting shot.

And we SERIOUSLY need better precision about whether they even were facing each other. I mean, with the new dialogue system and all, they might have been just looking at opposite sides while talking to each other

Well as I posted the articles above, it seems like your going to be disappointed as it seems we have smart AI. Don't worry, there is no such thing as a perfect game and also there are always nice little easter eggs

Everyone in the room saw the same thing but we get differing reports on what happened. This is exactly the same thing that witnesses to a crime do when they say what they saw to the police. I'm sure it's going to be better....and I also like goofy AI...but I do think it'll be improved from previous games. :)

It is somewhat worrying, definitely reminds me of Oblivion, but I think I'll wait until I've seen the AI in action before judging it, for one thing, this could just be an isolated case, and does not represent how the AI will always respond in similar situations, and even if there's problems with NPCs responding to the player stealth killing their friends, that doesn't mean the AI hasn't been improved in other aspects. It most also be considered that they may have misinterpreted what they saw, seeing as the previews only give their writers' impressions on what they saw of ther game, it's possible that they could misjudge some things. Not that I can say with any degree of confidence that the AI is good, just that I'm not ready to assume it hasn't been improved at all since Oblivion even though Bethesda would seem to have us think it has.

Lets just hope that at least one of the new people working at bethesda now is working on the AI, and is better than the ones who made it for oblivion.

well, on second thought about this. NPCs can now detect items on the ground, and most certainly other things they need to detect while cutting wood or such things. so tell me. if they can detect weapons lying on the ground, how could they possibly NOT detect bodies?, if it was in some demo of skyrim then you know how many months of development remain. plenty of time to fix it.

However. i just got a nice idea for stealth characters, traps!! :D since you can now make traps with spells, you can go into sneaking mode, put a weapon on the floor somewhere around an npc's path, pick up a bow and draw it, and once the npc bends down to pick up the sword you shout "Boom Headshot!"

Two sources state to the contrary to "goofy AI", so I would think it's basically /thread.

I know the game is still far from done and much can be fixed or edited. Nonetheless, don't expect the AI and combat to be flawless, guys, it's not really a realistic attitude. We may still end up with issues like sliding or poor reactions to others' deaths, don't be too shocked if this stuff isn't totally fixed.

I read at least 17 new articles and there were multiple mistakes in many of them, just because 2 said one thing does not mean anything. There all confused we need confirmation from someone from Beth.

I found the AI in Oblivion to be somewhat oblivious

Hopefully the AI in Skyrim will skyrocket above the stupidity that was Oblivion's AI

Two things to consider everyone:

For one, it is very likely we actually understand the mechanics and components of BGS games more than these journalists do. A variety of them have already made clear generalizations, and they did not pick up on every fine detail about the game.

Secondly, this game is still in pre-alpha, meaning everything in the demo is likely an older build and will be subject to change (I believe BGS used this same demo for GI when they saw the game around December).

With these two factors alone, journalists who probably aren't familiar with previous BGS game mechanics, and a very early and likely inaccurate build of the game, there's probably not much we should be worrying about in this stage of the game.
