Loosing interest after level 50

Post » Mon Nov 11, 2013 7:31 am

I have played over eight characters now, but every time I come to level 50 i loose interest in the game and I just want to start allover again. I think its leveling up and the fact that it goes so slowly after level 50, that is making me loose interest in the game. I don't know, its a bit like playing Call of Duty, once you've hit that highest level prestige, its just not that fun any more to play. Can anyone give me some advice or tips why I should continue playing after level 50. I have my Destruction, Conjuration and Illusion to 100 and yeah the master spells are great, but still I find myself loosing interest in continueng from that point. Is it just me or are there other people who experience the same phenomenon?

I kinda agree with you. For me, the interest fades once I get the build "complete". I always end up starting a new character. As far as your Call Of Duty remark, I disagree. I still play MW2 a LOT because it NEVER gets old. I stopped Prestiging after 3rd prestige because with all the cheats, hackers, modders, there just isnt any prestige in doing it anymore.

Most of my characters have done what I intended for them to do around that level. The latest one I retired was an exception, she was level 53 or something and had done the Companions and MQ - original plan was to take hee through the civil war and Dragonborn but I lost interest and started another character.

Honestly, I don't see it as a problem. By the time my characters get to that level I have played them for like 150-200 hours (which takes me a few months), completed a couple of questlines and a lot of sidequests, probably got them at least one home, a spouse and a long story, so it feels ok to retire them.

Well, I never played MW2. I was refering to Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2. I still play MW3 now and then, I still think this is one of the best COD's games they made, with the exception of MW1 and W@W.

By the time one of my characters gets that high, they have exhausted their story or have died, anyway. Some people, like Booty Sweat, don't play a character much further than level 10 or so.

I start a new character for several reasons...

  • I get inspired from something to create a new one
  • I simply grow tired of the existing character
  • They are finished telling me their story
  • They get killed

There is no reason to try to defend a purpose to continue.

I usually have made up a new character by the time I hit level 30 with my current character. Sick isn't it? :blush2:

I think level 50 is when the game starts getting extremely fun. I always end up on the edge of my seat because the battles are just... EPIC.

What's so epic about them? Skyrim isn't anything special at higher levels, it just has bigger damage sponges with slightly better loot.

I don't get my character's levels that high either. Even at level 25 my "build" is usually pretty much complete. I just finished the main quest with a nord warrior (2h, archery, light armour, smithing) at level 26. I've got my legendary glass equipment, I've got the sweep perk for 2h, the faster firing for archery and the +50% stamina regen for my armour. I don't think I'll get much stronger, I just think the enemies are going to double or triple their hp if I continue to level.

Yeah after level 30, sometimes even level 20, my interest starts to wane. The only time I've reached 50 was with my bosmer and honestly by that point I was just going through the motions.

I'll never see Legendary dragons It seems.

I normally start planning my next character right when I create one.

By 50, I normally finish the character.

Normally it's about Level 60 for me, but I know what you mean.

There's not much really left for you in Skyrim when you are about that level, so there's no incentive to carrying on.

No, thats not the real issue, i still have quests to do. But when you start from scratch its just a lot of fun, you level up fast and can choose a new perk. Once you're hit 50 leveling takes a hellish long time and i believe that takes a lot of fun from the game.

So you enjoy getting one shot? or the fact that enemies are damage sponges? seems so cheap to me at that difficulty, it's not even fun in a challenging way, just frustrating in my experience.

I think for me, it's the same, only the reason I lose interest is because by level 50, the game starts to get too easy. Then again, the two times I've played before was only on Expert difficulty. I decided to up it a notch to Master for my current playthrough and I gotta admit, I'm only level 12 I think and it's significantly harder than before. I like it, though. Provides a challenge and requires actual strategy.

I kill in 1-3 and die in 1-3 hits. Mages and dragons can kill me almost instantly if I make a slight mistake during a battle. Civil War battles are 10x more fun.

Stop looking at it as a race to rank and simply enjoy the game...it's not a multiplayer so there's no competition to be best, just be you and play the game naturally.
Skyrim has so much to offer if you take your time to stop and smell the roses on your quest.

It will happen sooner or later. Reason why I never grind. Game is boring if you hit level 50 under 10 hours. And when it happens, I just delete the file.

I just started my first playthrough...but assuming things go the same as they did in Morrowind and Modblivion I'll be doing about the same thing you are. I have never been interested in 'one character to rule them all'. A character that does the main quest (if it's something they would be interested in), some appropriate other quest lines, and establishes their 'place in the world', is appropriate for retirement in my opinion. I have no desire to rise through the ranks of one guild with a character who is already the guildmaster of another guild.

I download mods to continue my characters adventures (only made one character since 11.11.11 and still using him - level 67, who has done most things save the TG and DB) I just like inhabiting the world with my character.

 Closest I've gotten to 50 is 47 with my 1st "test" character. She lvl'd extremely fast because I was trying out alot of different things. Even my favorite character only made it to lvl 43. Generally somewhere in the 30's all my characters have told their story and are ready to retire.

Only place I have ever seen a legendary dragon...is other peoples screen shots.
