Loot in Master Chests

Skyrim trolled you. It happens. Some dungeons I think are especially designed to have difficult locks with dud goodies.

You'll be happy as [censored] when you randomly get an ebony warhammer from a master locked chest....no perks.

Thank you Bethesda for making me waste 15 lockpicks on a Master Chest for 2 [censored] gold... No joke on this. Literally only got 2 gold and a health potion from a master locked chest. Damn. Whoever's chest that was really like that potion and was a real miser.

I get more from burial urn than this damn master chest.

whats worse is you pick open a dozen master locks and find out there's a key available further down the dungeon.

I didn't use any... I just scared the lock open.

No... Joking... But there is this perk that allows you to break locks with your melee weapon.

srs? under what?

Can't screenshot on the 360. Or if you can I don't know how. Otherwise I'd definitely have a picture to go with it.

I have to agree if you use that many lock-picks the reward should at the very least be decent.

So if you're better at lockpicking (say, because you have the perks), you get worse loot?

But then again this is Skyrim, and a master lock should contain better loot than that, so I have to agree with the OP.

Well if that's the case I found several Ebony pieces inside average skill locks, I better return those since I didn't earn them. Wouldn't feel right and break game balance if I kept them.

Yeah i belive in the random factor but i think there should be a higher chance of a master having somthing awsome.

Agreed. I go through a very hard dungeon, Draugr Overlord, Draugr Scourges, and some other nasties. The chest in the back of the dungeon should have something other than Health Potion. Wow...I feel amazing. -.-

The reason I go dungeon diving is to get good gear. But so far no real luck and I'm at lvl 30. Well I mean the awesome things I get are on dead bodies instead.

Why? Do you know how much stuff I have that is just sheer crap that is out in storage in my shed? Behind a nice expensive Master Lock (the brand, not the level).

Sure, lets make level irrelevant. I want to see low level bandits carrying high level weapons and ancient dragons with iron daggers. I mean, it makes sense, right? Just because someone is weak doesn't mean they have weak weapons, and dragons likely wouldn't be swooping down and chomping on people with full sets of Daedric gear.

This is Skyrim, not real life. There should be an incentive to take on things that are generally harder to accomplish. That's how games work, after all.

The thing is, if you start harping that lock difficulty should have something to do with the loot inside, you start making a point that no loot of any worth should ever be outside of a chest - equipped by an enemy, anything. To follow up on another post further up, I have some locked containers irl with really difficult locks and absolutely nothing of value inside (to anyone else). The two gold might be the first two gold the person ever made. :P

Ok people. I'm not saying that just because you get good gear from adept locks etc that you don't "deserve" it. I'm saying that Bethesda should have put something on the master chests that gives GOOD equipment every time. I mean seriously. Like ForlornProphet said, I go dungeon diving find valuable things to sell etc. What is the point if I'm being put off by master chests that, on average, give about 40 gold, some potions, and maybe 1 item that usually isn't worth 200 gold? And why waste valuable perks on your lockpicking skill when you only get crap?

Bethesda, why didn't you just add bolt cutters to the game? Then I wouldn't have to waste so much of my precious time picking these damn locks. I believe a refund is due since you haven't catered to me.

Be glad you don't pick a master lock and get a note saying. 'Better luck next time' or 'Hey Jvard, I borrowed your ebony war hammer of frost to fix my wagon and I took the 500 gold you owe me. Signed your brother Kardoniv.'

Haahaa. :P

I do wish they would have taken Fran's idea of having leaders of chests have keys, as well as have the chance of this happening be adjustable by the player. It made things a lot more enjoyable in Oblivion using Fran's mod for locks and traps.

Mages did want the equivalent with their open lock spell... haha

Far as master locks, bring a companion like Aela along. I believe she carries perma lockpics in her inventory as she is an archer / thief based class. She opens master locks on one command
