Loot Prices

Post » Thu Apr 08, 2010 5:21 am

Fixing loot prices is key to fixing the economy of the game.

In short: I am tired of being the Plate Bandit :excl:
Plates and pitchers shouldn't fetch much money... Heck my kitchen ware could only be donated... I couldn't get anything for them. Keep gold and silver kitchen ware modest. You may think I'm crazy, but this will make emeralds, diamonds and rubies way more valuable. This will make searching through loot more exciting... Hey I found Something!!!!!
This will get ride of the "Mule" mini-game, so many of us have played before.... (going back and forth hauling gear)
By making less valuable generic stuff not worth picking up, you make more valuable stuff..... more valuable.....

They don't fetch much money? I'm kind of confused as to what you're trying to say.

I was talking about all misc. (not just plates) of loot and you would pick up just because they were more valuable then they weighed. It kind of helped to break the economy of the game.

I agree. You shouldn't be able to make a fortune in the game by stealing somebody's dinner plate.

You could make quite the quick cash early in the game, when you really shouldn't have been able to make that kind of coin off plates, cups, bone, etc...

Call me crazy but...wasn't this fixed in oblivion? I recall most of the clutter being worth 0.. but the small item database left very little to steal.

But they cost so little, they were almost negligible amounts of gold

yeah your right about bone... that was a hip shot name pull on my part...

you get 4 gold for cloth, 3 gold for scales
I just checked the wiki, but it doesn't seem to match up with my memory.... I clearly remember making a ton of cash on that stuff....

But also with some low end armors... and cloths.... used cloths aren't worth much in the wold, new ones yeah.... but used.... you shouldn't really be able to sell it for much..
If they had condition greatly effect the price of the item... that would do the same thing as scaling things down (value wise) with out having to make a lot worthless.

I say take it further then that..... and make more items in the game less... weapons, armor,etc.... This will make a single coin more valuable... and it will make that awesome sword you just found.... that much more valuable....because it will actually have a value.... :)

Umm... Most of the clutter was completely worthless for what it took to haul it to a fence, so this really a bad idea. Think: Rob a house for the flatware, clothes, and other random stuff for about 100 gold a house, or tear through a dungeon and find a bunch of leveled enchanted clothes, armor and weapons that you DON'T have to fence and each item is worth at the least 200 gold and up to thousands of gold. This argument is a complete 180 to what they actually need to do.

Wow you guys must all be really rich and never buy stuff at a car boot sale or garage sale.

Anyway, no more worthless items please.
I think the best way to go is add more denominations of coins. a fork could be 5 copper, while a diamond could be 50 silver.
That way you and have no more worthless items and a nice gap between the price of clutter and that of good loot.

And if they did want to stick to a single coin system.... They could always do the decimal system and round...

I honestly don't care if they keep the useless clutter, but they need to add more unique, expensive clutter. I'm tired of sneaking into the most highly secure places only to find tan pots and plates worth 0 gold. Only things worth taking were magic scrolls and potions which it didn't feel right that I could steal stuff that was actually useful to myself.. why sell it when you can use it yourself...

I miss the days of raiding Great House vaults and finding wonderful stuff to sell. :flamethrower:
