Once it installs, you should just be able to log in using it.

I tried, but it says I don't have an active LOTRO subscription and to try another user name.

Game keeps black screening on me every few minutes. Coupled with the fact it takes ages just to log in and play, I probably won't fiddle around with the game much.

I'm going to start a new character on Meneldor. Anyone want to join me?

Not sure which class to choose either. Any recommendations?

I will, since it's free (well until you reach Moria apparently) I might as well try it. Meneldor it is.

As for the race or class, I have noooooo idea. I'll probably go with a standard human character with a fighter-ish class trough, as I almost always.

Hm, then you should probably just create another account.

It took me forever to decide on what class to use, but in the end I went with Guardian. I'm modeled on a warrior of Gondor.

Meneldor seems to be a popular server. I have been lagging terribly in Bree-Land/Town all day. But I am fine in the lone lands.
Anyway, just bought a horse, (500 silver), and its so much better then running.

I made a hunter on Meneldor. If anybody is interested in playing together. Name is Dagidor (all the good and proper Elvish names were taken). I only just started, so I'm only level 4.

Also, does anybody know how to move around the map and stuff?

And, what is this quest pack(s) that you can purchase?

Also, the rune keeper is the mage?

I'll download the client tomorrow. On the weekends or if I have freetime I may log on and play. Not sure what server my old character is on though.

I've created a character, the guardian Aceferth of Rohan (unfortunatly Bob was already taken as a name... :brokencomputer: )

It isn't too ugly for an MMO, let's hope it doesn't hassle you for money too much.

I think its only quests you have to pay for.

Is anybody having some lagging issues?

This has happened twice now. Out of nowhere, my character will just freeze and I can't use any skills, just spin my character around.

I did quite a few times. Hopefully they will upgrade their servers or this will be a very quick experiment

While I do like this new "pay for what you want" system, I have spent about a months worth of money (based on the old subscription model) on the first day buying quests/items....it really is addicting using their turbine points. (I just bought the lone-lands quest pack)

If that doesn't work you have to set it manually http://goo.gl/rvfe

Nice work. You got both of my characters, but it's actually Aeodor, as opposed to Aedor. Though that's my fault, as I spelt it wrong in my post. :P

I realized how far along I was and then how it would lock me out of the quests I was doing until I paid. So I am going to give this a pass. If it was free sure, but it isn't for me at this point.

Aww you guys are all going to servers I don't have any characters on haha. Meneldor is no where near as popular as Brandywine or Landroval so if you're getting issues there with lag, jeesh. The next best thing is Windfola, it's not very populated there, at least less so than Meneldor.

As for a character list...

Gorlaran on Brandywine lv 65 Guardian
Trilbo on Landroval lv 21 Guardian
Vikdairic on Windfola lv 62 Champion

Those are all my mains, and then I have another 7 alts on Brandywine. Between level's 1 and 45.

Also the servers should be back up in 20 minutes or so, if they don't have to extend it again. It happens when you get a mass influx of people, they probably didn't expect as much, also server moves cost money and time so it will be a bit before they get a new one (not too long though).

Oh and I'd just start a new character on Meneldor but I don't think I could take it, I've played through those quests way too much.

Radont used to play on Meneldor. Last I checked, he seems to have quit the game, though. I checked my friends list, and it's been ages since he's played that character.

I still play, it has just been a while since I have played my Radont character on that server. Plus, my internet is crap now so I have to go to the library to play it.

How far along can you get before you have to start paying for quests?
Also anyone have a link to the system requirements and how large the full game that you DL is?

How far along can you get before you have to start paying for quests?

You can only go through the starter instances. Ered Luin and The Shire quests go up to about lv 18. Bree quests go up to about lv 25. With doing all the deeds in both areas, you can probably purchase the Lone lands quest pack or north down's quest pack. You can go to either place after Bree. Then you do the same for Lone Lands and North Downs.

Lonelands quests last till about level 35 if you do the GA instance. North Downs can last all the way up to lv 38-40, if you do every quest. Doing deeds in each place should make it so you can keep purchasing quest packs and eventually you'll have all you need.

System requirements are:

Windows XP,Vista, 7
Pentium 4 2.8ghz
1GB RAM
128mb geforce 6800 or ATI x850
10GB disk space

For the recommended, you can't really play that well on minimum reqs.
