Lord of the Rings Online

Ah well, if I need to download the updates then I do. I didn't get an answer in time so just let it install overnight (that alone took 20+ minutes :P), so now I'm trying to choose a server to join. Not sure which to choose though.

Well, I started the game and it only had to install stuff (C++ runtime, etc.) for a minute or two, including what it said were the updates. I made it all the way to the character select screen without have to download mass patches, so I think I'm clear on that.

I'm actually relieve that my lappy will run the game. It's got an Intel 4 chipset, so I was unsure if it would actually work, but it seems to be fine.

Anyway, I joined Meneldor, but have yet to create my character. I'm going out with my dad so I won't be on until later today.

I've got a couple of my friends to set up and join Meneldor so that should be fun, was getting a bit lonely. My 2 characters are Penthier and Aeodor for anyone who cares.

3. Download the Standard Res or High Res NOTE: These two downloads CAN NOT be used from a Mac. They are not complete files. Turbine uses the PANDO Media Booster to provide the downloads which DOES NOT WORK UNDER WINE! You must either obtain the Mines of Moria DVD's from a "boxed" distribution, or find a site which hosts the complete file intact. It is several GIG - 2 DVDs worth of data. Pointers to possible download sites are listed in the Tips and Tricks section of the Codeweavers LOTRO support site mentioned above.

Does this mean that I still have to pay >:/

OH MY GOD! :D :D

I played the two week trial I got from a friend. It was absolutely amazing, a lot better than WoW (but that's probably because I've been playing WoW for years and this is something new...)

Should be pretty great.

So I'm curious....

I made an account way back in 07 or whatever it was when the game first came out.

The email I had associated with my account has long been hacked and deleted. How do I recover my username and password?

Ooohh I think I guessed my account name correctly, just for the password...

Radont used to play on Meneldor. Last I checked, he seems to have quit the game, though. I checked my friends list, and it's been ages since he's played that character.

Alright I sent a ticket to Turbine.

I created a free account in the meantime. Which North American server is everyone on?

So, as many of you know Lord of the Rings Online will 'reboot' as a Free 2 Play MMO on the 10th. I loved LOTRO when it started and I'm a former subscriber so I'm definitely going to check this out but I was just wondering if anyone else had planned to try the game.

Anyway, I'm going to be playing it and if anyone wants to meet in-game, that'd be cool. Maybe we could get together enough people to have a BSF meeting in game and do group quests and stuff. ^_^

I was involved in the beta for that game. I enjoyed the minstrel class, but it was just a bit too fussy with the tiered spells and all. I'm also an explorer, and it annoyed me intensely that simply killing mobs yielded very little experience. Havent played since then, so maybe things have improved. It's a gorgeous game visually, and, of course, the lore is a strong point.

Meneldor seems to be the popular one, at least it's the one I joined.

I'm going to create a character now.

I'm going to start a new character on Meneldor. Anyone want to join me?

Not sure which class to choose either. Any recommendations?

I would, however I have to get some stuff together for school. Are you going to be free later tonight? My character's name is Cardomir.

The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar & Mines of Moria

Do I need both of these for the free version? Because my DL time is over a day at this point

Shadows of Angmar is just the subtitle of the base game right? I'm not sure if Mines of Moria is included in the download or not, but if it isn't included, then it's definitely not required (I just downloaded whatever the program was and I've been playing fine).

Once it installs, you should just be able to log in using it.
