[WIP] Lore-Based Loading Screens - Help me create a new Skyr

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 7:13 am

SUB: Morrowind is well known for its bizarre flora and fauna which is uniquely adapted to its volcanic climate

SUB: Negative Nordic opinions on magic are relatively new to Skyrim's culture, due to the Nords blaming mages for the Oblivion Crisis. In fact, the old Nordic term for mage was "clever-man".

Excellent work everyone. I really appreciate it. Many of these I would have never known.

My "goal" was 100 unique loading screens, and I think we're getting close to that. I'll do a count in the morning!

SUB: Morrowind is well known for it's bizarre flora and fawna, due to their adaptation to a volcanic climate.

You should rewrite this as "Morrowind is well known for its bizarre flora and fauna which is uniquely adapted to its volcanic climate." or perhaps "Morrowind's bizarre flora and fauna is uniquely adapted to its volcanic climate."

The way you wrote it makes it sound that, because of Morrowind's adaptation to a volcanic climate, it has bizarre flora and fauna.

SUB: Morrowind is holy country, and its gods are flesh and blood. These gods are called the Tribunal, three deities exemplifying Dunmeri virtues. Almalexia is Mercy, Vivec is Mastery, and Sotha Sil is Mystery.

SUB: The Dwarves, or Dwemer, dissapeared from Tamriel during the war of the First Counci. A Dwemer scholar Kragnec manipulated the heart of a god and turned his people into the brass skin of the Numidian.

SUB: Malacath used to be called Trinimac until Boethiah ate him whole, this turned Trinimac into Malacath and Trinimac his followers into Orcs.

SUB: it is widely known to all Khajiit, who may be expected to know, that there is no cure for addiction to skooma. Because this is widely known, it is taken to be true. But it is not true, and I am living proof. – Confessions of a Skooma eater

SUB: "The Snow Prince is come! Doom is at hand!"

SUB: Beneath Red Mountain, Dwemer miners discovered a great magical stone. By diverse methods, Lord Kagrenac, High Priest and Magecrafter of the ancient Dwemer, determined that this magical stone was the heart of the god Lorkhan.

IMO the last one will only work with a picture of the Heart Chamber

SUB: The idea of a collection of Mages, Sorcerers, and assorted Mystics pooling their resources and talents for the purpose of research and public charity was a revolutionary concept in the early years of the Second Era.

That's all I really have. The mod sounds really cool by the way, good luck :)

SUB: Jagar Tharn hid one of the pieces of the Staff Of Chaos in Labyrinthian during the Imperial Simulacrum. The Eternal Champion later found this piece on his quest to rescue the Emperor.

SUB: The Hall of Collossus in Elsweyr were used by Zurin Arctus to assemble the Numidium, the brass-god robot, which was instrumental in winning the war against the First Aldmeri Dominion.

SUB: Jyggalag, the Daedric Prince of Order, became so powerful that the other Princes had to curse him into becoming Sheogorath, the God Of Madness, the exact opposite of his original sphere.

SUB: The fire is mine: let it consume thee, and make a secret door at the altar of Padhome. In the house of Boet-hi-Ah, where we become safe and looked after." - 36 Lessons Of Vivec, Sermon 3.

While that IS from the Sermons, I would be more inclined to source it as "Traditional (Dunmeri/Chimeri(depending)) Prayer" as that was what it was mentioned as being in the Sermons themselves. But that's just me.

Edit:
Just to note, The Infernal City and its sequel are fully ratified by Bethesda and written under instruction by them. It is canon.

The view of the Aedric plane(t)s as infinite in size but appearing as spherical due to the mortal incapability to visually comprehend nestling infinities is a pretty http://www.imperial-library.info/content/cosmology of Elder Scrolls lore.

I'd personally replace Reman Empire with Second Empire. Also I like the idea of spears, but we both know they're not in the game because of gameplay reasons.

How about the third one. I thought of the first as a bit of tongue in cheek really.

Catching up now.

Also, can we make model recommendations? Is that within the scope of the mod?
I am breaking each submission into categories. This will inform which model to use, as well as allow me to break things up into separate .ESPs. For instance, someone on Reddit is intending to submit 90 entires, 5 quotes from each category of skillbook. Some may find that overpowering and not want to play with that category. Or maybe you don't care about ancient history and the workings of Aetherius. etc.

Edit: Whew. All caught up. I am sitting on 114 submissions. My goal was 100 (and I honestly thought it would be a stretch to get there!). I will keep taking submissions as long as you're willing to provide them. I'll specify a cut-off date for submissions sometime soon.
