In ES Lore, can there be good Vampires?

Is it possible for vampires to be morally good? Personally I am of the opinion they can be, they still maintain their free will, Serana certainly does not seem evil at all, but then you see Clan Volikhar cannibalizing on dead bodies and kegs full of blood. So what do you think?

The Solitude court mage is a vamp and she's pretty chill.

She is? Never knew this, she doesnt have the red eyes or anything, though I guess the comment about her age gives it away.

This was exactly what came to my mind when I saw this thread. Janus Hassildor, the Count of Skingrad, in Oblivion was a vampire and he is actually pretty nice. He helps the player and it is implied that he only feeds on criminals thrown in his jail.

You can't tell she is a vampire unless Dawnguard is installed. They ruined her looks with the ugly bat face mess... You can see her glowing eyes. Wonder why the rest of the court hasn't noticed by now.

This. Just because someone is a Vampire it does not automatically make them a bad person. It depends on the certain person in question, as with everything in TES.

They probably all notice but don't mention anything out of common courtesy, "She thinks she's hiding it well, let's not crush her dreams."

The way I figure it, the majority of vampires you meet are evil because they active chose to not get themselves cured, for the most part. Sure, there are those that didn't get cured in time and became full fledged vampires, and you hear about them looking for other ways to cure themselves (the ones around Clavicus Vile's shrine for example, they asked him to be cured, so his answer was to let the Dragonborn kill them all, because Vile is a dike).

A handful seem to just use their vampirism to benefit others, like Serana and Janus Hassildor. So yeah, vampires can be good, it's just that most of em are evil because they were bad people to begin with.

Lord Lovidicus sounded like a decent guy, at least before he went insane from hunger and isolation.
