Hi guys.


Most of the time I play as a Nord. When I play, I like to have names that make sense and are therefore lore friendly. I touched in another topic about a particular Nord character I had previously that focused on frost magic and had a clan name Snow-Song.


I know that there have been other topics about names we have called out PC's and this is not the purpose of this post. What I'd like to know is have you used lore as inspiration for your names? Have you referred to the lore of each race to help you pick that perfect name, or do you make one up?

All my characters use a variation of my first name as theirs, but as for the surname my Bretons have been Hawkwing family battlemages since the time of Uriel Septim. When I do use other races I make one up, but I go out of my way to make it as lore friendly as possible. My wife thinks I put far too much effort into it since nobody but me will ever see it, lol.

Completely depends on the character. I usually find names that I think suit's the character and the play through.

For instance... my Avatar.. Adain Folkvar ...Adain means Little fire, but was chosen because I like the name... Folkvar mean's "Guard( ian) of the people". He was one of my first PC RP's and I used Helgen Reborn and Deadly Dragons , going through the Main Quest. Thus he was A Dragonborn guardian of the people... fit.

Another Akemmi ( Akemi) is Japanese and mean's.. Ake: bright ...Mi :Beautiful... I thought it fit...http://i.imgur.com/sJWWdb9.jpg... I DiD character whose story went past that competition.

I try to come up with names that fit the RP and the characters personality...

I adopted the in game clan name "Shattershield", since that's what my big Nord does with his warhammer.

Absolutely! My one and only character is named in strict compliance with TES lore.
