Lore Implications of the New TES Novel(s)

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:55 pm

A flying city is not really a big deal in TES. Remember the walking tree citiy, Falinesti in Valenwood. It's more interesting, which enemy there will be. Mannimarco (King of Worms) is dead and should stay dead. It's not really entertaining, when the same guy return always again. Mannimarco, God of Worms, is much more interesting, but I don't think he cares about an undead army in Tamriel. For what reason? He is already a god, more might is not possible.

Maybe Haymon Camoran or one (of two) Underking returns.

(Oh [censored], HERE THEY COME! The lore police are AFTER ME!!) :obliviongate:

So Kurt Kuhlmann emailed Greg Keyes the Loveletter and he read and utilized it?

Damn right the lore common sense police are after you.

*prepares to be mightily shouted down*

Perhaps a floating city is the Landfall? Undead aren't known to like the emotion of "love", so it would be a great thing to fight them off with...and a flying city could certainly drive some people underground if its shadow kills what it touches.

(Oh [censored], HERE THEY COME! The lore police are AFTER ME!!) :obliviongate:

___The Word Merch....ummmm.....my name is Earl. Yeah. That's it.

The Landfall is going to be... averted (says so in the Blurb!)... by a young girl called "Annaig?"

I've still got major quips over that horrible horrible name.

Even so, perhaps, I don't think many authors would be able to divine the mind shattering metaphyscial implications behind the loveletter.

That is why MK or KK should be joint-presidents, of writing.
Oh, yeah...

"Annaig" was probably ?named? while her mother died in child-labor.

Could it perhaps be the Battlespire? Unfortunately, I never played that game, so I don't know much about it, other than what I've picked up on during all you fine, fine chaps arguments.

That was supposedly destroyed at the end of Battlespire.

Yes, the Battlespire blew up when Dagon blew up inside.

Best I recall there's still ruins (though that's not to say I agree with the theory).

It wouldn't really make sense for the Battlespire to be this 'Infernal City', as one, it's not a city, and two, it's Daedric -the Daedra and the Undead are seperate groups. That and the Battlespire, ruined or otherwise, is in another dimension (it's one thing for people to hop dimensions, it's a completly other matter to get a giant Bastion (I would imagine harder if it was ruined) through dimensional barriers).

It's not a place. It only exists in the experience of the mind. Think of it as forum a, nothing can come out of it in any other way then words in your head.

A young, idealistic Imperial who disagrees with his people's aggressive, expansionary ways decides to defy his father and not take the throne, in order to pursue his dream of farming turnips. The trouble is that he's called upon to save the world again and again and again because he sells books.

Mark my words.

That would be as immpossible as it is crazy, the Battlespire didn't have a soul for one thing, secondly souls outside of Mundus wouldn't be attached to the Dreamsleeve, and thirdly if the two prior points are ignored, how in the name of the Great Alkosh could a building be reincarnated? Prehaps it's soul is now a small bakery somewhere in Cyrodiil.

It's so Bat[censored] insane, it has to be true.

Personally, I hope it is not Mannimarco; he seemed...above the whole floating city thing. If anything, he'd probably try to find another way to reach complete apotheosis, instead of where he is right now, and finally give Arkay the permanent middle finger, or something else. He also has huge political influence, and can pull fame right out his butt if he wanted to. And I definitely hope this has nothing to do with his "first" deal thing with Helseth's sister.

Could the sload be taking more shots at Tamriel? Either way, if the blip didn't make it sound so much like a high school fantasy drama, I'd try to think of something more serious.

I'm torn between hoping it is Mannimarco because he's part of established Lore, and hoping it's something feasible-yet-new. he was never the only hyperpowered Necromancer. I'm also half-hoping Attrebus is another Uriel bastard, because it just cements the idea that a guy as active as uriel never really runs out of heirs and spares.

Prehaps it's Morgiah's first floating city, and she's currently building a second. Floating Cities for all!

Aside from that, the Sload would probably be a good direction to go in, as they are rather undeveloped (and so there would be less of a chance to have mix ups with lore), however I don't think that a floating city is their cup of tea.

Interesting way to go, but it's implied that 'the Emperor' is still alive, so that would make him the legitimate son of a bastard Emperor. That and we don't know that the Prince is 17, we know the girl is, the Prince is just described as 'young' (though he's bound to be around the same age, probably slightly older, due to the character dynamics it creates).

The Sload cruise around in airships and buy slaves to experiment on from southern Morrowind markets and steal Redguard corpses. They've almost exclusively been in the background before. A giant flying city is not their style. (And I sure hope it isn't, because the Sload are way more awesome than this novel seems to be.)

Let's not go with anything but stated fact. While you may well be right, you gotta remember that most speculation about Oblivion's storyline was based on unspoken implication as opposed to hard facts.

It's was merely a hypothetical [and a slight correction inregards to the facts we currently have] in response to paw's suggestion (that what if it was Ebel's bastard). And as far as we currently know, all of the Emperor's (Uriel's) Sons are dead, which is a fact, unless The Infernal City either changes this, or elaborates upon it (but doesn't discount any of them having Bastard children, but most likely discounts if they were to have had Bastards, that it wouldn't be Prince Attrebus, because it mentions his father being the Emperor in the blurb, which would most likely mean that his father was alive (as when each son died, semi-excluding Martin, they were Crown-Princes), or that his father had been alive, and named Emperor prior to dying).

And dude, seriously? That's something you really should go to the doctors for
