Lore Justified TES 5?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:25 am

Is there a candidate? From your awesome knowledge of lore built up so far in the TES universe, which province/nation/whatever is more justified than others in being granted that prestigious honor of having TES 5 set within it?

But, how do I know which province will be next? Well, Morrowind was the first to set an example in the "rumours" department, with additional quests in both expansions further solidifying rumours of an impending doom for the empire...

Oblivion? Any obvious rumours present? Or, did Oblivion clog us with so many rumours that it is actually impossible to attempt to divine which TES is next?

In Morrowind/Bloodmoon the "insane" guy with the skull prediction an invasion from Oblivion.
Hence predicting the next game in a way.

Ever met the insane Bosmer down at Anvil docks, talks about his mother coming to rescue him in the dragon ships.
And a bunch of other Akaviri invasion related things that I cannot recall exactly at this moment.

He also says something along the lines of "these slugs climbing up my spine itch something fierce" (or whatever) which may imply possibilities of The Sload... which we haven't seen since Cyrus had his little encounter with N'Gasta.

I found this quote in the UESP Wiki: "Mother's coming for me in the dragon ships. I don't like these itchy clothes, but I have to wear them or it frightens the fish."

Another page has this quote: "My name is Thurindil, son of Julianos and Mohi-Titona, Queen of Akavir. These slugs climbing my spine itch something fierce... Like to dance?"

[That would make him a demigod if true, an insane demigod; but that's foolish of me to speculate even that much.]

I would hope that TES V visits Snow-Throat, and ties the events of Daggerfall into the regional happenings of Skyrim. I can't remember the PGE current events on Skyrim, but it seemed to host a multitude of political and social problems. You have the great houses, the sundered throne of Skyrim, the Greybeard prophesies, the Nord nationalists who're raiding into High Rock. It could set up a fine scenario.

There's also the Witch-Queen, Jsashe, mentioned in the PGE 3rd. But after playing "Bloodmoon" I feel as if I've practically experienced Skyrim already. I guess the devs can add to our experience in TES V, though.

I overhear people in the cities of Cyrodiil talking about increased Daedra worship in the Summerset Isles pretty often, after someone asks, "What news from the other provinces?"

As did I; perhaps it will be in multiple locations? Semi-Arena-esque? Methinks it so....

I'm probably wrong though.

Prediction: MW gets sacked by the Akas in their weakened state, and now they've been worn down into an uneasy stalemate by the Cyros, Args, and Nords (since they border MW) and whatever other Imperial Legion forces would still respond to Ocato's order I imagine that the predominantly Altmer-operated Navy may be amenable to Ocato. Meanwhile, the Dunmer, who weren't too keen on even a bloodless defeat to Tiber, chafe under the Akaviri boot and start an underground resistance.

Then landfall happens, and like before, the Akaviri problem is solved by a Vivec-induced disaster.

Fortunatly, Vivec teaches all surviving Dunmer a dirt-breathing ability, so that they can live underground.

TES V MQ: The dirtbird dunmer (specifically, a foul-mouthed Vivec) and the snow-whale horkers confront Molag Bal above High Hrothgar, and ask him to rein in Mehrunes Dagon, who's painting too many cows, so he won't wake Akatosh and bring the End Times mentioned (in sign-language, presumably) by the Greybeards. Meanwhile, Lorkhan is bouncing up and down on Red Mountain like a Marukh selective, waving his arms like Pelagius the Mad to get some attention from the Isle of Arteum which just reappeared to get a good seat at the turning of the kalpa.

It could happen, it's all in lore!

Though that is true, dialog in Oblivion (in the form of rumors that appear in random conversations) also hints at trouble in Black Marsh and speaks of Daedra worship becoming increasingly prevalent in the Summerset Isles and a boycott of Imperial goods in the same province, these sound no less likely, if not more so, to be hints at the plot of the next Elder Scrolls game than the ravings of a seemingly mad Bosmer.

God I hope not. Not another completely inhuman outside invader!

If they are still humanoid mortal races with behavior and personalities resembling humans it is not so different from the premise of Morrowind's plot, really, except for being an inside threat rather than an external one. After all, Dagoth Ur is by no means human, never was, and I would say that any race from Akavir is more human than his servants, at least they are mundane races instead of horribly mutated monstrosities.

Daedra worship is increasing in Summerset Isles.

Summerset wizards are boycotting Imperial goods.

The Nords have gone to war with the Redoran.

The crazy sailor's mother is coming in Dragon Ships.

The Argonians are being "called back" to Black Marsh, and foreigners are leaving.

Jygyllag is now free to try to organize everything in the universe again.

There is no heir to the Imperial throne.

The Hlaalu and Dres are destroying the Indoril.

We've got plenty to work with here. :D

I understand fully that there are many more likely hints at the next game than the ones given by the rambling Bosmer.
Trouble in Summerset sounds much more plausible, as much as I'd like to see the Tsaesci and the other Akaviri races, I think they will continue to remain a mystery for a while longer yet.
Was mainly pointing out that in the last games a seemingly "mad" character foretold the next events, and we have a similar situation now.

Either way TESV will be great lore wise, so many possibilities.

Just don't let Redoran of Indoril be beaten into submission, love those Dunmer

That's a big assumption, one that I sincerely hope comes true, but still... just because there's the possibility of great lore doesn't mean that they'll jump at it...

:biglaugh: ok you are probably right, it is a pretty big assumption after OBs efforts.
Lets hope they grant our lore wishes.

Just browsing this thread, and from what I heard about other rumors, isn't it also in there that the Nerevarine left Morrowind on an expedition to explore Akavar? One might think he/she might have been captured as a spy in the process, triggering another invasion by them, arriving in Argonia, which would, of course, require the Black Marsh area to spring forth with lots of swamps, bugs, caves, and of course, the invaders, attempting to overrun a province full of lizard people. :)

+ The Nerevarine has been lost in an expedition to Akavir.

+ Some provinces are talking about seceding.

Sadly, this sounds like plotlines for each race starting areas in a MMORPG...
