With how lore looks these days, i wouldn't have much doubt about someone knowing more than the Devs.

Hmmm, lets see.

I use TIL. I have enough humility to listen to others and apologise when I am wrong. I am very dissapointed in 99% of the people who visit this forum, which I have seen descend into hell. I use my education in the ways of history and it's study to apply those gained skills in the matter of Lore. I adore that Occhams (sp?) Razor thing. I listen to Allie, and Nalion, and Solin, and Arynel, and Rhedd, and MK, and Tedders, and all the others I've forgotten at this point in time.

Those things are greater (bar one) than simply knowing what the lore IS.

I also don't rate myself in the ways of Lore, because my overall knowledge of how much lore there actually is in existence isn't concrete - so how can I possibly know how adept I am at it?

I guess i just felt a few % by asking this question: What is Ochams Razor? i remember seeing it in those "boring therefore wrong" discussions.

That the simplest explaination is often the correct one.

How: He's a living god, or as close as one can hope to be without some crazy stuff happening. He could be all gold if he wanted. He could be all silver. He could be Umpa-lumpa like.
Why: The affairs of a god are not done to be examined. But one could argue that it was to give the people hope. Times were tough, they had lost thier golden skin and been marked with the grey curse. But they looked to vivec and saw that he both Chimner and Dunmer. That the people were still the same, despite thier new skin, that things were gonna be okay. Or perhaps, look at Vivec, he's all about opposites. He is a warrior, and a poet. He is male, and female. He is gold, and silver.


What language (it matters)

Because he appears as half-dunmer, half-chimer.

Reason for this being possibly that he wants to be "diplomatic" about it. Remember, he's the poet/romantic guy, so him being half of each (half in the past, half in the future) has a lot around that.

Also of interesting note is that Almalexia appears fully Chimer while Sotha Sil appears fully Dunmer (from what little you can see of him that isn't armor/machine).

It surprises me a bit how many people vote that they are total lore masters. Me I'm in the 31-40 category. Was around a little in the good 'ol Morrowind times. tough me lore skill has been steeply declining since Oblivion. Anyway back to lurking for me.
