Lorenzo Cabot

Post » Mon Jan 11, 2016 8:36 pm

Yea, he reminded me of Bartrand and the red lyrium idol they discovered in the Deep Roads... (Dragon Age 2). So, I wanted to see what happens if I free him and when he immediately said, kill Jack and then meet me at Cabot Manor to kill the rest of my family... I was like no Sir and reloaded my previous save and put him down. lol

But yes, true, some here bring up a very valid point - the family kept him locked up for centuries, so I guess, with the help of that artifact, he would build up so much anger and animosity that the first order of business would be to kill them. On the other hand, I am fairly convinced that Jack had a good reason to lock him up in the first place. The world is better off without certain, crazy individuals. Who knows if killing his family would have been the end? I'm sure once that was done, Lorenzo would go on a killing spree that left a bloody path throughout the Commonwealth... the very place I'm trying to re-build, by providing protected settlements - safe havens for those in need. :)

He gave me a Magneto vibe. So I sided with him.

He was already homicidal before being locked up. If he wasn't so dangerous there wouldn't have been a reason to lock him up to begin with.

Apart from the fact that he is the source of immortality for the entire family.

The only source telling you he was homicidal is .... surprise, Jack who invented the immortalitry serum.

Had to kill him from an RP standpoint. The world has enough problems without introducing an Ancient unknown.

I had read about the immortality serum and the non-stop supply you could get, so going in that was my intent... Jack was arrogant and bossy but seemed to genuinely care for his father (could have been acting, I suppose, but fooled me). Jack telling me to do what he says without question rubbed me wrong, but then a lot of bossy arrogant folk think they know best.... and he's 400 years old and knows the facility and the dangers so I figured I'd give him some leeway. Plus, telling me to kill everything that moves is not that strange a request in the Wasteland --- they ARE raiders, after all, who attack ME on sight.

When I finally met Lorenzo, I thought he was barking mad. His son seemed perfectly reasonable and Dad seemed like a lunatic. Listening to his ranting, I could not let him free. Afterward, Jack seemed genuinely sad that his father was dead. Yes, it could have been that he missed the serum, but I don't think so. His Mom was the one who started the whole serum-drinking thing anyway, I believe I read.

Emogine is a nice enough old lady, bored with her long life but unable to suicide. And Jack doesn't seem to be out murdering folk to appease an Old God... so the choice was easier than I thought it would be. With no more serum coming in, Mom will eventually kick it, Emogine might welcome final release, and Jack will fight against it until his last breath, likely... perhaps even trying to pursue his father's work (dangerous territory --- might have to watch him in the future).

If Lorenzo had only not worn that stupid hat and ranted like a madman, I might have had a harder time making the choice.

I really wish you could get Lorenzo and Pickman together. Those two could be like the ultimate buddy comedy sketch. A twisted, insane version of the Odd Couple.

Look at where their houses are! They're even from the same neighborhood!

Just don't stay for too long in a 45 rad spot. It regenerates, but the rads need to be down first.

Did anybody take Lorenzo's Artifact?

Is the gun worth a damm? Having not done the quest yet, it sound like the serum would be more useful long-term.

Bethesda definitely dropped the ball on this one.

I would've preferred to kill everyone AND take the artifact for myself.

Still immortal, but instead of being a vampire, I am the one that's truly made immortal by the artifact.

Gun's not really worth it, IMHO. It just knocks enemies back, kind of like a weak Fus-Ro-Da.

Honestly? I only killed Lorenzo for that slick outfit he wears. Looks way better on X6-88. B)

You get tte serum longterm if you help Lorenz, whiccch is basically what his artifact produces.

Immortality doesn't mean god mode (could you kill Lorenzo if it would?) it means being radiation resistant and not becoming a ghoul, that' how the family survived since 1960ish.

As a bonus Bethesda obviously thought it woulkd be cool to buff your DT and give you +5 Strength which basicalaly means god mode for melee chars, at least if you play survival on the lower difficulties it might matter less, since opponents die easier.
