Lorkhan Worshipers

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:41 am

I wanted to know if there are any "mainstream" Lorkhan worshipers around, other than in Skyrim. In addition, I'd like to know what your typical Lorkhan worshipers is like, because I want to RP such a character if possible, either for MW or OB. If any material could be linked, that would be especially welcomed.

I'm sure that many of the Thousand Cults of the Imperial City would have included Lorkhan (in the form of Shezarr) in one form or another - either as their primary deity or as a saint or spirit - but unfortunately, these cults weren't present in Oblivion. That doesn't stop you from inventing your own, though. Shezarrite cults were apparently quite popular once, although they venerated him as the spirit of human achievement. I recommend reading http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/onthe8.shtml for some background on this.

An obscure reference in the Sermons mentions the "Void Ghost Eaters", which I would guess to be a cult of some kind. The name "Void Ghost" seems to reference Lorkhan as the "Space God", although their relationship to Lorkhan is speculative at best.

I remember some quote from Nu-Hatta like "increased interest in Shezzarine power symbols?..."

In addition to the source referenced above, Lorkhan has had many cults throughout the years, going into the mainstream at the end of the 3rd Era as shown here:

The "mystery" of the millennial-plus rule of the Alessians was accepted but unexplained until the spread of the Lorkhan cults in the late 3rd era, when the doctrine of the Dragon Break took hold." (http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/dragonbroke_ex.shtml)

Lorkhan's cult(s) was in existence during the publication of the http://www.imperial-library.info/pge/morrowind.shtml, in which the narrator comments by saying "Could Septim be the outsider prophesied by Lorkhan's cult?" According to Qwerty, this is the earliest in-game mentioning of Lorkhan and was directly related to the cult existing at the time.

Hope this helps,

It takes alot of expertise to be a void ghost eater. Its really hard to navigate, and you have to deal with all those crashes. Not for the weak willed. Its funny, beacuse Lorkhan didn't exist when they did.

What would the typical cultist be like though, other than a human, and hatred towards elves?

Depends which 'typical' Lorkhan the cult would be worshipping. Each variant is practically as diverse as the Divines and probably as numerous.

Bear in mind that any Lorkhan worshipper who hates Mer would never, ever refer to him as Lorkhan. Shezarr, or Shor if they were of a Nordic/Colovian bent.
