Clutter objects like Tin Cans are far from useless, without clutter, everything would feel very sterile.

I agree and besides I never felt any impact on game performance because of this, sure they should not go crazy because its skyrim not post apok. Tamril :P, but clutter is here to stay :) I love over decorating my house :P

I want to be able to pick up a spoon and drop it in a river, and I defend my right to want to do that. It's what makes Bethesda RPGs so unique. :disguise:

Plus, I love throwing junk at super mutants and feral ghouls, then proceed to punch the ever living poop out of them. In fact, I wish there was a formal throw button, that'd be awesome.

For example, FO(fallout) had tin cans and other useless things

Not a great example. Tin cans were used for Nuka-Grenades.

"discard some of these things"

Clutter is needed but there can also be too much. Thats all i'm trying to say.

I actually thought there wasn't enough clutter in FO (fallout)

In FO at least FO3 if you use the physics system you can assassinate people with no consequnces.
Any non essential npc can be killed with this glitch..

Take a large moveable object like a trolley or oil drum.
Place it next to the NPC.
Run up and bump it into the NPC.
If they move around, use the pick up object function to just run up and bash them with it.
Repeat as they slowly lose HP.
When they die it's as if they killed themselves, no karma loss or hostile reaction at all.

It shows how much effort I put into the Beth games to find this.

I liked them in F:NV because you could create stuff with some of them.

I want them in, though I would really like an option that lets you disable being able to pick up 0 value items like spoons, cans, etc. That would be really nice, as I accidentally pick up worthless crap on occasion.

Knock yourself out, there are thousands to choose from but only about 50 or so unique subjects among them though.

No, they're pretty useless, but it's nice that you can interact with all this useless stuff.

He said without them everything would feel sterile. That is the purpose they serve, and hence, they are not 'useless'.

By "Extras" I mean unneeded objects that just potentially slows down the game. For example, FO(fallout) had tin cans and other useless things laying around that just increased possible chances for lag and freezing. It added more to the enviroment around you,but the game wouldn't be tarnished if you discarded some of these things.
AHA quite the contrary those tin cans served as good ammo in my Rock-it Launcher... or was it Launch-it? idk but that thing you put junk it.

And yes I want my useless junk.

In the very least, I think clutter should have value. In Oblivion, there were some things you could find in barrels and crates that didn't have value. I found that moderately disappointing. On the flip side of things, I had a character that used one of the 'pointless' bricks found in Vilvern to disarm the assorted traps found in the game. Sure it had 3lbs. of weight, but it still amused my simple mind to drop a brick on a trap plate to set things off. It added to the game experience. What can I say? You play long enough, you start doing strange things. I use to use "Mother's head"... Before that pairs of leather boots and bandit and/or assorted dungeon creatures to set the traps off. Bricks are more portable than the later and more convenient than the former head of Mother. So... I'm sort of in the middle about in-game 'clutter'.

A more natural clutter would be best. Bones, weapons, coins, etc. Either stuff I drop, or stuff that NPC's leave behind. With that I don't really see the need to manifest clutter, unless maybe it's a tumbleweed. Tumbleweeds won't even work, because the environment is normally anything but flat and desert like.

Why should clutter be taken out? It adds a lot of realisim...to the point that I can't see playing without it, or with static items.

Suggesting to remove features that add to the roleplaying experience from an Elder Scrolls game on the Bethesda forums basically equals signing the forms for your own crucifixion.

Funny, when I read the OP I thought: "This must be a console player". And lo!

And console bashing is against the forum rules, hmmmm.

On topic :
Clutter, and the huge amount of it, is a defining factor in recent Bethesda games. We need more, not less. Who else lets you pick up a tan cup, just because it's there, so you should be able to pick it up. Something to be very much applauded.

Jerall MountainsYou are standing in a large clearing, with tall, gray clouds overhead. There is a large, gray dragon flying overhead.> Attack dragon
