Losing Connection To Session Every Game (50+ Times)

Post » Fri Oct 30, 2009 9:04 pm

Every single game I've played on Crysis 2 I can play for about 1-2 minutes before I get the message "Migrating Hosts" and the game pauses with the playerlist shown. Once that counts down to 0 the game ends every single time and I get the message "Lost Connection To The Session".

I really like this game, but I'm thinking about returning it if the online won't even work.

Can somebody please help me out? I can get more information if needed.

Thanks alot!

Whereabouts are you located and what sort of connection do you have? Are you ever host?

I live in Canada, and I'm not sure how to know if I'm host.

I usually get full bars in green if that helps.

Can you tell me how I know if I'm host and I'll go see.

I don't know how to tell for certain, but usually if you have the full 4 bars then you are the host. Does everybody else in the game only have 3 bar connections when you have four? There seem to be a fair number of Canadian players so distance from other players probably isn't the problem.

If you are regularly hosting, it sounds like the game doesn't like your connection and keeps trying move the hosting to another player. I have no idea why it keeps failing and dumping you out though. Have you looked at your packet loss and connection speed and compared it to others in this thread?

Alright this is pretty weird, I checked on the website.

Packet Loss Test Failed?

Ping : 12ms

Jitter : 3ms

Do you think It's the packet loss? Cause I don't really know about this stuff. :P

When I ran the test I also got a packet loss test failed result (and I generally don't have problems playing online) so that may be just a glitch on the test (since I also used Chrome). It sounds like you have a decent connection though.

It could just be the dodgy matchmaking/host selection on Crysis 2's part, (this is a big gripe with many people and hopefully they will patch it). Have you got any buddies in the local area you could try a private match with and see if you have the same issue as a standard game?

Other things to consider :
Do you only have problems with Crysis 2, not in other games? Black Ops is a good comparison here since it is hosted in the same way.

Bandwidth (i.e. speed) in both upload and download. Is there anything else running on your network connection e.g. a PC? If so try turning that all off when you play.

Is there any kind of firewall on your router? If so, you might need to tweak it so the PS3 can access the ports it needs all the time.

Are you running your PS3 over wifi? If you can, it is best to plug directly in to the router.

After that, I'm running out of ideas!

Alright thanks!

I'll also try changing my NAT settings on the PS3 to see if it helps.
