Losing hope in fallout/Bethesa (bugs overwhelming)

Post » Tue Jul 06, 2010 5:54 am

Honestly the amount of bugs in Fallout and ESPECIALLY in new vegas is STIFLING. Heres an example.

I was playing New Vegas today and pretty far into the campaign. A few weeks ago I did the vault 22 questline and found Ed-E missing was trapped in vault 22. Checked the entire place using the elevator, he was not in any floor. So I continued without him because I recently saved over my closest one and it was inmpossible to go back far enough to redo it.

Today I purchased 'Honest Hearts' only to find that it is impossible to do it because of my lost companion. Impossible. Really? Is this your Customer service? I've discoveresd this bug has been out since the game was released and no one bothered with a patch to fix this game breaking error? This is ridiculous. I wasted 10 bucks on something I can't even play? I was recently told the only was to fix this bug was to buy 'Dead Money' a DLC a purposely avoided because I just honestly didn't want it. So NOW I am more or less being forced to pay another $10 to fix an error that shouldn't have existed in the first place? Even worse, I am being forced to pay because you are too lazy to fix the issue? Honestly? I hear that on the PC version there is a console command that can spawn your companions to you, how hard would it have been to put this feature in the lucky 38? Just some type of intercom or pager that calls your current companions back to the safe house? If the game isn't finished don't release it.

In fact, I've never seen an official statement that expressed the singular message of commitment: We will make sure that this game will be fixed by a specific date.

If you won't answer this and continue to capitalize on faulty dlc then how can anyone say that you are concerned with customer satisfaction in your product?

Okay. I see your point, but there isn't much to say that hasn't already been said in the past.

Vault 22 known bug; the ED-E is stuck in the ceiling on the Food Production level and can be freed by asking it to wait and then follow again.

I'm sorry that's not working for you. I don't have any DLC because I'm still waiting for a patch on the original game that was ignored. I did hear back from Josh Sawyer on the broken Boone problem but I don't know yet when a new patch will have the fix for it.
On this thread, you can see it at post #37, 38

Josh, I have to ask who'll be working on fixing what's wrong with Boone.

I forwarded those links to Bethesda folks. In the past, every thread I've seen where someone has complained to me about Boone being broken has simply suggested that Boone is broken without articulating what, exactly, the problem is.

Drizzitdude, I can say that it doesn't matter if it's been said before...say it again and keep saying it until they see it and do something. They say they want the game to work so just keep saying it. I made a thread in the Issues forums for PC and PS3 because I have both versions and I kept the post on page 1 and evidently, still no one saw it. They claim they watch those forums so I don't know how that could be possible when I posted the fix from a modder right in the post over and over again. If they concentrated on stability on the last patch and plan to do other fixes on the next patch, maybe that's what happened. I have no idea but keep talking about your problems and I sincerely hope they are fixed for you. If I ever do get the Boone bugfix, I may buy DLC and I'd like it to work if I get it. Thanks!

You know you could always start a new file?
The DLC/game isn't broken, just your current playthrough...

welcome to the world of fallout.svcks right.i think the worst thing is the games so good we play it despite all this s**t.we all feel the same but like the other guy said were tired of complaining.i bet the next title will be exactly the same.they clearly dont care what we think and probably dont see the point in spending time, money and effort making it any better since they know we'll get it regardless of the bugs.this engine was tired in oblivion and now its just a joke.i aint getting the next game till ive been on here and checked what people say about it which im betting will be complaints about all the old bugs and new ones.

Dead Money resets compainions and sends them back to their original places. :whistling: Other than that, start checking the ceilings of Vault 22. Bethesda/Obsidian can't fix everything all at once. Bugs take time to find, feedback is most often required, and finding a fix for said bugs can take as much time, if not longer than actually finding the darned thing.

1: The bug has existed since release
2: Once again I am supposed to be forced to spend money on a DLC simply because the game is broken?
3:Where in the ceiling? Since I read that I looked all over the ceiling of food production and saw nothing, if this helps at all I have been to every floor on the vault and checked my pip Boy map, it does not show Ed-E's location. However when I leave the vault it styill insists he is there

1. The majority of bugs have existed since release. Some take longer to fix than others.
2. You don't have to do anything. It was just a suggestion.
3. ED-E should be at or around the location he's marked in the ceiling. If he's not, I hope you have a previous save somewhere on your Hard Drive.

He doesn't appear on the map when I am inside the vault

try traveling to Vault 22, and then taking the elevator to level 5, it should cause ED-E to appear next to you. If not, I'm all out of options. =\
