The whole sub thing is there for one big reason.

IF ESO goes big(i mean REALLY BIG + they have made a good game), they can support huge content patches steadily = very good for us gamers.

OFC they get more money like this, but do we really care IF we get an MMO to play for years to come ( a good MMO ).

stop and think, and you know what the answer is.

I would pay 15 more just to the game right now.And well, looks like that video was made for the solely purpose of bashing the game instead of being informative.

best way to fish some marketing money is to bash and then change the tone after the $$$ payoff.

its really bad for those sites as they rely mostly on those marketing hand outs.

You can't trust any of them any more. It's all about money, clicks and views, and they'll use any old controversial, hot button issue to get them. Even if it means shamelessly blindsiding people with an unrelated topic they've tagged on to the end of a video.

"Facts" is very important here, what is the game about, is what I look at what are the basic features, based off the the most basic info I make my choice, with no hype added.. I don't listen to company hype, ad hype, review hype, game site hype.. I had made up my mind to buy ESO, long long time ago just based on the three factions, that is some thing I like.:) What they do outside of that how they handle everything else I could care less as long as I get what I ordered there is no problem with me.

Trust me, SE would have been out of their mind to try and put a contemporary MSRP on FFXIV.

Having been a FFXI player i could go on ad nausea with legitimate reasons. Just go and do a bit of research about the stuff that went down to get you what you have presently and if you are honest with yourslf you'll see my point.

AngryJoe is a joke to be honest. He's also completely against sub based MMO's and he bashed ESO for having a $15/mo sub fee because you know..."sub fees are a thing of the past". I don't take him seriously.

Khajiit has learned that if one says the word free, it is wise to perk up ears, put hand over money pouch, and look closely for hidden daggers.

I don't think ESO will survive as a subscription based game, I could be wrong but it really does seem to me that the MMO crowd has grown a huge dislike to that payment model. The sub based model could be better if developers were not so greedy and decided that they could survive on a sub that costs significantly less then $14.99 a month, like say a 1/3 of that $4.99 a month. If they had 1 million customers paying $4.99 a month that is still almost 5 million a month they would be pulling in per 1 million subs.

In my opinion $15 a month is just being greedy, period...not to mention it will end their subscription payment model much sooner because people think its a rip off.

My guess: many of them are dedicated WoW players, who want WoW to be the only subscription model on the block so they can treat everything else as F2P filler to kill time while waiting for WoW's next update.

You really have no clue how much it costs for continued development, server and network infrastructure upkeep, dedicated bandwidth and future content. Also, they need to keep making money so YOU can continue to play. If they aren't making money then what is the point. It's not being greedy.

I'm amazed how people not only think $15/mo is a lot of money (it's 50 cents a day), but they bash subscription models when the f2p models end up costing people MORE money cause of cash shops. It's practically triple the amount of money spent over a year.

The reality is not every game in the mmorpg genre has to be the same, I feel like some of the hate teso is getting is because they have e changed some things up which some people are not used to. I find it refreshing. I'm talking more so gameplay. Not so much the sub model.

If $15 is greedy now, what was it 10 years ago? I wish I had gas prices from 10 years ago.

Do we really need to have a 5 page discussion every time this game receives negative reviews or game sites making a negative comment about it ?

You mean I can't yell at someone for making an ignorant statement such as saying "Zenimax is greedy for charging a $15/mo sub fee" ???

Please?

"Gaming news sites"

Do many actually provide news now?

I thought they all gave up and only focus on monetizing clicks through creating "news" purely for the purpose of allowing others to argue about well, easily argued over things to make those involved feel better about themselves for whatever reason, for maximizing clicks.

I know of no sites that create well constructed, thought provoking articles that are genuinely researched and informative whilst being stimulating for the reader.
If you know of sites with a good reputation for the above, I'd gladly take the recommendation.

Click farmers make me sad. The people that negatively indulge in click farms disappoint me more though.

:ahhh:

The last few times i have watched and followed game reviews by game sites, i didn't buy games at first thinking they svck because of their opinions. Oh boy, was i wrong. After that, i never again read or followed any of the reviews.
