Lost Housecarl

Was working on a quest line and lost track of Lydia. I can only presume at this point that she's dead but I'm still curious... Has anyone else run into something like this?

Same here, but she went missing during a dragon fight.. pretty sure an area effect spell must have launched her off the cliff.. never did find her either... she had my whiterun axe on her as well.

Still don't know how I'm going to explain that I managed to lose an ancient whiterun artifact and my housecarl within a few hours of being presented with it..... I haven't been back to Whiterun since out of sheer embarrassment. What if she has family?

certain dungeons are enterable but will say "your companion cannot follow you in here" or something similar also if you like jumping around up cliffs they often try to run the "long way" up and if they stop to fight something on the way and you go outa range well then you either gota find where u lost em or hope they re-appear after a fast travel.

also if you have a house it's possible they started living in it and acidentaly stoped following you.

I like how you explore some dungeons and your companion disappears. Then as you are leaving all of a sudden your companion shows up like nothing happened. HEY WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I NEEDED YOU? lol

I've lost track of her once or twice, but she always comes back. On one quest where I was in a large house, she got stuck on something in the basemant, and I didn't realise it until I left the house and she wasn't there. Took me a while to find where she was and get her unstuck.....I wonder what might have happened to her if I never went back and got her.

Now my horse on the other hand......that little bastard is a pro at sneaking away. Everytime I have to get off and fight on the road, I know I can look forward to another round of hide and seek afterwards.

Well, I may be the master of losing my companions! Most of the time it is because I shot them in the back during a battle. My aim is not that good in the fury of the moment. I always reloaded and was a little more careful the next time around. Now, that's not losing them, thats killing them.

But, there have been occasions where I would turn around to see if the companion was still with me only to find they had gotten lost. Sometimes they would reappear after taking some circuitous route to get back to me. Other times it was, as mentioned here, that they were stuck somewhere. Then it is backtracking to try and locate them.

Saves are great! Unless you play dead-is-dead.
