LOST mod

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:13 am

Iv'e been thinking a bit recently about the idea of a LOST mod for either Oblivion or Fallout 3. Just thinking, as I am fully aware of how rediculously not easy something like that would be to make. But take a look at http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_g9Ld2xVPlZs/S9tErfZeMKI/AAAAAAAADWQ/_S_9Viwr850/s1600/TheLostMapD-3_0510.png map.
Now, with the right manpower, dedication, and innovation, dosen't that look like it could be made into a worldspace mod?
I'm not saying I persay would do it, Iv'e never modded before in my life, and I don't mean to start on something like that.
But if you saw a mod like that of FO3NEXUS, wouldn't you think it was the most awseme thing ever?
Just Saying.

Sure it should be possible. Heck, most of the stuff you would need is already in game. You could use vault assets to re-create the various darma labs. There are palm trees and island related stuff, for example http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1712

It really does sound like a neat idea. Although I'd suggest a modular approach. Meaning create the new world space, get the scenery right, then allow others to use it as a master file. The idea being if the landmass is created, others might very well flock to the mod to add in their own slice of the lost world. The modular design would also allow people to pick and choose which buildings to allow on their island, while neatly divvying out the workload.

So, the gist is, I get good at whatever New Vegas GECK there is, i make a ESM with lots of palm trees, and I let people do their magic on what I don't do myself?
Sounds like a plan....

Hi Igloo!

Have you checked out the Fallout 3 GECK? I think the FO3 and New Vegas GECK are going to be quite similar in the way they work, so if you want to get started early you can learn some of the basics in the FO3 GECK such as interior/exterior designing. It would definitely be a good idea to have practiced creating landscapes before you really start doing it for that island.
