i've lost my mods D=

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:28 pm

Hi, i recently got a new PC, and i moved my oblivion files from my old to my new, but i realised that loads of my mods were mission from the files. I have looked in my ob folder on my old pc and i can't find them there and they didn't come up on the search. However they still come up on the data files list when i load up ob on my old pc, and they work perfectly fine.
Does anyone know where these files are or if they are hardcoded into some other file somewhere or something. i really don't want to lose these files becasue they are some huge personal updates i have made to the game and my current and favorite race is one of the files i've lost.
thanx for reading, and i hope you can help.

i would guess that your new PC has Window 7. If that's the case, you need to install oblivion somewhere other than Program Files. http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Windows_Vista for more.

That's because of the UAC on Windows 7. It doesn't like things being changed in Program Files. Install Oblivion in another directory (like C/Games/Oblivion). Read http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Windows_Vista article for a more detailed description.

It's saved in program files (x68) or something not the actual program files folder.

but the files don't even appear in the usb when i try tranfir them. the only way i can actually see the file is through saving something through the TES CS, and when i try to copy them out of that folder it says it can't find the file and the file needs to be relocated before moving, but there is no option to find or no what that i can see of that i will be able to find these files.

oh and i've also lost nearly all of my texture files, they have the same problem, i can't find them anywhere on my old pc :'( *cries*

[[[EDIT!!!]]]

Ok i opened the CS loaded a file and right clicked on the oblivion directory and selected send to my usb and it seems to be working. however i haven't tried opening the files yet as it's going to take a heck of a long time for it to transfer the whole 10+ GB's. i will post an update when i try to open the files onto my new pc ^^

What do you intend to do with your old PC? Move Oblivion back there and keep the game where it is happy.

Or does that not work? (speaking as a technically ignorant bloke)

my old pc is propper old school so i wanted an upgrade.

i've got my files over and working now, i'm pretty sure they were somehow saves into the CS's invissible internal storage software stuff that probably doesn't exist =P
