I lost my Mythic dawn books

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:45 pm

My current player (who is my first) is doing the quest part with the mythic dawn books at the moment. He had aquired all four books, but after the aragonian in AU started dechiffring the books, I thought they were not needed anymore, so I sold them, and I believe it was to Thoromir. But at the same time I did the quest involving him and the graverobber, so now he has given away all his inventory, including my books to the temple, so how can I get the books back. Does his inventory actually show up somewhere, so I can repurchase the books or what should I do.

I'm on PC so I could cheat and use the console if everything else fails, but I would hate to do that.

First and second book can be found in the Mythic Dawn hideout at Elven Gardens sewers. The fourth book should be a quest item, so you shouldn't be able to remove it from your inventory. The third book you get fromthe wood elf, i don't remeber if there are other copies.

Item codes for the books are (use with player.additem console command)
1: 22b04
2: 22b05
3: 22b06
4: 22b07

If all else fails, the instruction to find from them is

I have had all four books and I got the third in 'First edition' and the fourth from the mythic dawn guy. I also took all books from the mythic dawn hideout. But now I have sold them, since I didn't think I needed them anymore (and they were quite heavy) so I only have the fourth book left now, when the aragonian (tee-hee or something) told me I needed them.

I think I sold them to the elf, but he has since then donated his inventory to the church, so is there any way go find that inventory. If not I'll try the console.

The http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Unfriendly_Competition suggests that he does not really donate the items, i guess his inventory just resets; with the excatly same items he sold before :lmao:

If you were able to sell the books, then you don't need 'em. Be at the Tomb of Prince Carmil at noon, it's in the middle of the city, in the graveyard that surrounds the palace.

I hope you read them before you sold them. Not just for the clues they provide; they're skill books. Book I is conjuration, II is destruction, III is illusion and IV is mysticism.

Thuromir has been my main buyer of items, since he byus everything, so I also sold the books to him. The inventory resetting is something, which never happened to me in Morrowind, but I guess it does not in generel.

I'll remember tomb of prince carmil.

You can get atleast one or two of them back by going into a basemant of the Mythic Dawn Agent in Bruma, or the house of any Mythic Dawn Agent, they have atleast 1 and 2.

There should also be copies of them lying around in the Mythic Dawn hideout in the sewer, near where you acquired book 4.

I took every book from the hideout in the sewer, and I have not seen other mythic dawn hideouts.

But I'm past the problem now, since I took Kristoffers advise and went to the prince camril tomb and got the quest update.

In the future I will be careful about selling questitems.

You'll be seeing plenty more of those books soon. :)

Almost every merchant has their inventory reset after 72 in-game hours, unless you visit the cell they're in during that time. Same goes for most containers (except sacks, containers you own, and various quest related containers). Once you exit their cell, the counter will start ticking. Visit the cell again before the 72 hours have gone, and the counter will start from the beginning again.

That is nice to know. I will not sell anything important again.

IIRC you can't sell, drop or otherwise lose a quest item until you don't need it any more (the quest will then turn that flag off).

However, that's only for vanilla quests. If the quests are part of a mod (not a problem on a PS3 or Xbox), there's no guarantee that the author remembered to set the flag for any essential items, although it's probably more common to forget to turn it off.
