if your old hard drive is not broken hook it up as external and use a key recovery software.
you could try some thing like this Nsasoft_Product_Key_Explorer.

You know what I always wondered? Why don't they actually write the serial key on the DVD as well...

What?

Most people take care of the DVD, but lose some scrap of paper with a code written on it.

try magical jellybean keyfinder (what a name) http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

not sure if the free version will work but put the crysis 2 dvd in drive and run keyfinder.

Um, the discs themselves typically arent uniquely keyed! The key simply conforms to an algorithm and/or is matched to an online database of valid keys. A keyfinder will only work on his old HD (which will have the typed in key on it).

So what?

If you lose your scrap of paper, you've no key. How could you not wish that the CD had a key written on it then? Who would care if the CD was "uniquely keyed" or not then?

I used to have quake 3, and it came with a sticker on the front of the CD box that had the key on. When the key got worn off and became illegible, I had to torrent the game instead.

If It's a retail copy you should look for your game booklet, it has the printed key on the back of it
( I assume that's what you've lost )

and IF you do find your key, Write it down on something or in notepad and store it safely..

Good luck :)

Key stored in profile files (if you at last once join MP). It is stored in encrypted form, but if you contact support and send to them your profile-files they probably recover your key. If before replacement of HDD Win 7 was installed, profile will be stored in "C:\Users\USER_NAME\Saved Games\Crysis2\Profiles\". Good luck.

I actually think your idea is great. Losing a CD key is effectively losing the game, so I admit I don't have a ton of sympathy for those who lose their keys (you should take care of your key just like your CD). However, putting the code on the disk is one less thing to keep track of and it would make me happy if less people lost their keys because of it!
