Lost in the Forgotten Vale

Post » Sun Jan 05, 2014 9:19 pm

I'm doing the Dawnguard quest line for the third time now and every single time I'm having the same problem. I get lost in the Forgotten Vale!

After 2 hours of agony I finally reached the Inner Sanctum, only to find out that I only have 4 of the 5 vessels. Apparently I've missed one Way Shrine. What is the best thing to do here? Load an old save and start the Forgotten Vale from the start? Or go back trough the portals and look for that one forgotten way shrine? This part of the quest is always driving me completely insane. :bonk:

Go back to the 1st portal and re-trace your steps to discover which one you missed.

Because its probably bugged. No markers or arrows! And yes, the quest is highlighted and selected in my journal. This is why I having such a difficulty completing the Forgotten Vale, I have absolutely no guidance or direction.

YouTube is your friend, then. :P Looks like your only hope is to shadow the footsteps of someone else. I doubt anyone here could give you specific directions that you could follow precisely.

Now that I think about it... could you tell us exactly what it says in your quest log? Perhaps you forgot something.

If there are no more quest markers, then you have been to them all, and at one of them you have forgotten to fill the vessel. A couple of times I forgot to fill the very 1st one.

You should of had quest markers for the shrines from the very beginning. I would dis-able all the auto saves and clear the cache, and then try again and if see if it works. If not, then either start from the first shrine, and make sure the ewe is filled, in case you missed one, and just follow the path the best you can.

This is the best I could find as far as a map goes

Just loaded the last save and this time it showed quest markers..very odd indeed. Thank you all for your comments and help.

You could have tried Clairvoyance.

Haha, I did lol. 'No direct path'.

I think the clairvoyance spell works synchrone with the quest markers.

@ Some Idiot

I actually use it quite frequently.

Glad you got the quest markers back, and you are now able to finish what you started.

Same. It helps when you're lost in a dungeon.

I can't see how losing yourself in such a beautiful setting would be felt as an annoyance.

In theory I agree, but maybe he's close to being over encumbered and just wants to get back home? That's happened to me a few times.

Like said. Its the third time i do this quest line and the third time I have major issues with it. Trust me lad, it can get annoying at some point. Its also a personal thing, i get angry very quickly. I destroyed four controllers last year playing Call of Duty. What can I say, I have a short fuse.
