Louder Sounds?

Post » Thu Oct 15, 2009 1:33 am

I'm trying to make the 6th house bells louder in the game. Clicking on them in the editor's sound picker sounds like Big Ben is in my living room, yet in the game it sounds like the bells were stuffed with cotton, wrapped in cloth and tapped gently by a 3 year old with a cotton mallet. The volume setting in the editor seems to be clamped to the range 0.0 to 1.0 and of course everything is 1.0 by default. Upping the sound radius to the max of 255 made no change in the volume at 0 range. Changing the bell script to use PlaySound rather than PlaySound3D also made no difference.

I'd try http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ volume of the .wav files

Data Files\Sound\Fx\envrn\bell1.wav
Data Files\Sound\Fx\envrn\bell2.wav
Data Files\Sound\Fx\envrn\bell3.wav
Data Files\Sound\Fx\envrn\bell4.wav
Data Files\Sound\Fx\envrn\bell5.wav
Data Files\Sound\Fx\envrn\bell6.wav

There's no fix for this yet? I remember the same problem way back when doing an esp for ra5946's beautiful Japanese instruments. I even tried making the sounds much louder using an external program. Yet the instruments were barely heard in the game. :(
