Lousy Lunchboxes

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 1:00 pm

What has everyones experience with lunchboxes been overall?

What have been some of your worse?

My first game I remember getting three 10+ dmg weapons and two Dwellers in my first 4-5 lunchboxes and thought that was great and to be expected..

But then I started a new game in order to be more efficient and I've had nothing but pretty lousy finds all along. So far I've been through about ten lunchboxes and had only a single weapon over 10 dmg (a 9-12 shotgun) and one Dweller (a level 8 with so so stats).

One time I got a box that had 2x 100 Caps, 1x 50 food, 1x Stimpack, and 1x Enhanced BB Gun. Man, I can only say that I was happy I didn't put any money into it.

Well it's totally random. I got lucky on my iPad with golden guns and outfits 3/2 but i have no unique Dwellers, also some rare. On my iPhone got golden outfit and dweller "David Payne", he already found rare gun 16-18 dmg :).

Similar experience. I got Moira Brown who was stat-loaded and an enhanced combat shottie. Subsequent lunchboxes have been... lackluster. Certainly not gonna pay for them with the output they've given after that. Especially when one of the rares is... 500 caps. Seriously? A paltry sum of consumables for the rare?

I got lucky and got Sarah Lyons in one of my lunchboxes. She's been out in the wasteland for 9 hours now and has only used one stimpack. All the other lunchboxes have been pretty lackluster

Yes, forgot to mention: These cards are very similar to "Hearthstone" Blizzard card game - You always get 1 Rare. But really "500 caps" rare card is a bit annoying, well maybe at the beginning you need those caps and 500 looks a loot, but know after i got almost ~90 dwellers, it's a joke. And lunchbox'es with only 1 rare - 500 caps are very very worthless. :(

The free ones are a mixed bag. I have had one high damage weapon and one unique dweller on my second save game, and on the third one I just got the unique dweller. Mostly I get caps and weapons for my uncommon/rare blue cards. I get the lunchboxes from the objective pretty often so I'm happy with it. When I bought 5 lunchboxes for 3.99 it was pretty good.

It's hit or miss. My cards range from a BB gun to Lucas Simms. It's totally random.

Ive opened about 40 lunchboxes?

I got:

1x Dr Li (yellow)

1x Fat Man (yellow)

1x Rocket Launcher (yellow)

1x T45f Power Armor (yellow)

6x Vault dwellers (blue)

And a bunch of crummy weapons and outfits.

Oh yeah, and LOTS of 500 caps.

All in all, lousy lunchboxes indeed.

I paid about 20$ for lunchboxes so i could get the 40% off. I wasted them all and I got some decent gear;

Alien blaster

Laser gatling gun

T45-a armor

But no special dwellers, at all. The kicker was that I got mr. Burke out of a lunchbox that I claimed as a reward for a challenge. I'm not paying for 'em anymore, that's for sure.

And the lunchboxes that you purchased, contain a rare item or better, guaranteed.

I did have some that game nothing but a few resources (that I didn't need since they were already maxed out) and a stimpak and radaway (which I also didn't need as I had plenty of both). Honestly if I don't get some gear, or weapon, or special dweller it's kind of a waste.

Totally random..

My first 8-10 or so lunch boxes I got 3-4 legendary dwellers, and a couple of weapons.

The other 10 on a different vault, I think I got one legendary dweller and a legendary outfit.

Does anyone know if there is a list of rare items? I'm curious what constitutes a rare item?

Never mind. I found it on the wiki.

i had a bunch of lousy lunchboxes myself, but i have also gotten some nice things.

i posted a thread about it.

i never bought a lunchbox, just used the free ones

in my first vault i got a guided missile launcher 20-24 2 enahnced flamers 15-17

a red rover BB gun 0-6, 2 lone wanderer handguns 2-7(they were equipped on the rare dwellers)

and several blue dwellers

a ninja

a survivor

a horror fan (looks like Jason Vorhees)

a female engineer( engineer out pfit is female only for some reason)

a medieval ruler

gold dwellers

scribe rothchild

butch

lucky formal suit +7 luck ( i love this item, makes room rushing so much easier)

and whole bunch of 500 caps

in my second vault i got t51a power armor +3 str +1 end

X-01 power armor +4 str +1 per +1 end

lucky nightwear +7 charisma

dwellers :

threedog!

a ninja

a professor

2 survivors

a sci fi fan

a greaser (with male pattern baldness...)

apparently, the 500 caps is considered a "rare" card so the guaranteed rare can be nothing but the 500 caps card. so you are only "guaranteed" at least 500 caps. it ticks me off too

Gender-specific outfits exist on the male side too. I don't remember where I got it, but the "Sci-Fi Fan" outfit is male only. Only men can be Fallout Spock, I guess...

Yeah, I have the sports fan outfit and it is male only. I guess females can't be sports fans in the post-apocalyptic future.

So far I've gotten a Hardened Fat Man, Alien Blaster, Wazer Wifle, Lincoln's Repeater, and four Power Armor suits. I've also gotten Sarah Lyons, Abraham Washington, and Confessor Cromwell. I played some on my iPod Touch before I realized it wasn't compatible and got Eulogy Jones. I think these Lunchboxes are great and I like the randomness of it.

Also, on that note... Femaiden, what FO3/NV outfit is the female-only "engineer" outfit based on?

My luck has been phenominal. Got a Hardened Fat Man and Flamer which pretty much nullifies any raider attacks. Got Elder Lyons too.

My daughter got the fat boy, but I told her not to use it because I assumed the splash damage would kill other dwellers. Is that not the case? It just kills raiders quicker?

Salutations fellow Overseers,

I haven't bought any lunch boxes but I have gotten quit a few lousy ones. Especially if you have to bread 10 babies to get a box and then it turns out to be junk in it!

Any way... Just wanted to put in my 2 cents :)

I bought the 40 lunchbox pack because I am a svcker for deals. Can't really encourage to do so, though. A, because of all the bugs I'm reading so far and the threat of losing all on a corrupt game and B, if the purpose of the game is to collect all items then I would consider buying lunch boxes.... cheating and C, it kind of ruins the experience as you can rush through the game by throwing your money at it. Also, the rewards aren't really that game changing, to be honest.

If you equip the Fat Man, not Fat Boy, on a Vault Dweller inside the vault, the dweller will use it during a raider attack and/or a radroach attack. There is no splash damage and it will not hurt other dwellers.

yes, some of the gender specific outfits make sense, like horror fan, its a jason vorhees costume, and medieval ruler is a kings crown and robe.

but engineer is basically leather armor with a hard hat. why should only females get to use that?

and survivor armor is leather armor with goggles, why is that men only?
