So I'm a bit perplexed here. I tried searching for a forum topic with this exact issue but to no avail.... I got ED-E, and then used him for long enough to trigger both groups messages to me. I chose to take him to April. I initially waited until he went back to primm just to see how long I had to wait, but decided to reload and just keep playing and wait for it to just happen when it happened. So I played for hours and hours, waiting for it to trigger that he went back, but it never did. After figuring it had definitely been long enough I went back to April to ask her what was up. However, she wasn't where she should have been. I searched all over and couldn't find her so I figured the game glitched out or she died while traveling or something. Kinda pissed me off cuase I correctly guessed I wouldn't be getting him back. I just decided to keep playing and just say screw it. Now I'm almost done with the game and figured I'd give console commands a try. I figured out how to find April and get her back where she should be. She wasn't dead the game just glitched out and threw her in some junk location. When I tried the same for ED-E he was also in a junk location but invisible too. I managed to get him back by using the moveto, prid, and enable commands but no matter what he just instantly starts shooting anybody, myself included, until somebody kills him and I fail the quest. I've tried using the resetquest command to get it reset, this fully removes the quest from my quest list(no failed quest listing either) and makes a dialogue open with the guy who owns the shop you normally first get him from, but it doesn't re-open the quest or anything. I couldn't find a way to reset it back so ED-E would just be at his normal spawn point and let me just re-try it. I'm lost for ideas and can't figure out what do so I can do this quest. Anybody have a solution?

You have to wait three game days until a message appears that you can get ED-E from Primm.

Gerza71 thanks for the reply but I felt made it clear in my original post that I have waited much longer then 3 game days.. in fact it's closer to 30 game days since I dropped him off according to my pipboy. I initially waited the three days to see how long I had to wait but reloaded since that's kinda cheap and kills the spirit of the game making you wait without him for a time. Then I just kept playing and after a good week or so of game time I started getting impatient so went to talk to April. Apparently the game glitched out because April isn't even in the moron fort anymore. When I use console to bring her to me she keeps telling me to show ed-e to her like it does if you don't have ed-e with you when you go to speak with her initially. when I do the same for ed-e using the console he just starts shooting people, including me even when I'm the only one around.

Have you tried getting a humanoid follower and rex the cyber dog, it did exactly the same for me except for senior knight lorenzo it should then say ED-E has returned to Primm, then tell Rex to bugger off back to freeside or the lucky 38, go to primm and he should be right there where you found him. (Cass or Lily, easiest humanoid follower, to get rex you need to have completed G.I. Blues and Ain't nothin' but a hound dog) Its really annoying when your in a massive fight at hoover dam and invisible ED-E just starts popping you and your allied side. So if that doesn't work I'll tell you what to try next to get around this very poor programming.

Yes I have tried. I have rex. I got him a day or so(game time) into the ed-e thing. Figured I'd use him until I got the primm message but no luck. :c maybe I'll try having rex leave and then wait a few days and get rex again and see what's up. I have to emphasis April dissapearing did lorenzo disappear on you as well? when I use the player.moveto of her it just throws me into a wall where I"m stuck and she's no where. Do the same for ed-e throws me in a boxed in room with no windows or doors and no ed-e.

So, when you put the id code in it just throws you into a room with no possible escape, interesting, I have not encountered anything like that on NV but I have on FO3, what I did was reload the games auto save then put an id code in to make Elder Lyons appear it then tried to throw me into the box but it just threw me across the wasteland a bit, then I went back to the citadel and he was back so try doing that, if it doesn't work have a look on vault wiki UK and US and if there is nothing useful I will keep looking for a solution for you.

For what I highlight in yellow, she disappears from the game after you talk to her.
About ED-E, it happened to me just go to Primm and wait 24 hours (may take more than one try), he should stop your waiting to talk.
