I love Fallout 4. I hate Fallout 4

I love Fallout 4. I hate Fallout 4. I am a lifetime gamer nearing my mid 60’s and played the complete Fallout story including Fallout Tactics.

I pre ordered Fallout 4 the day it was available on Steam and waited patiently for the release date and downloaded the minute it was available and have played it ever since.

I love the world, I love the being able to craft and build but damn the build system could lead to alcohol abuse it is so frustrating. Thankfully the numpad was unlocked in the Beta update but Bethesda you really needed to examine a decent build system there are so many out there that beat yours hands down.

Yes modders have made things easier but that’s not the point it was your job in the first place. Bits that will snap in every possible direction/angle except the one you want it to snap to but no fear take a jump to the left and way off to the left and it miraculously snaps where you want it to go. Why oh why is the concrete foundation a different height to the wood foundation??? Really!! Hold on I need a drink.

Companions or should we call them Frenimies rather. Whats with the constant bumrush and the rush in where angels fear to tread behaviour?? I only use them to get the perk and basically leave them at the front door of any mission. After you dismiss them you have to banish them to the ends of the earth to avoid the constant repetition of some inane conversation if you walk to close to them. They are useless, do nothing and just take up a bed in any settlement. I think you should be able to assign them jobs but it seems a bit broken.

On to what actually has prompted me to write this post.

I spent ages creating well defended well fortified settlements with guarded perimeters anticipating that in later game the settlements would come under strong attack.

I was absolutely wrong about the attacks it was more an infiltration. Enemies completely bypassed any perimeter defences not only spawning inside the perimeter of the settlement but inside the bloody houses.

Bethesda you gave us a build border, why on earth would you put enemy spawn points within that build border ????????? This is one thing I would like seriously addressed as it just defeats the whole object of settlement building and defence.

I love you Bethesda. I hate you Bethesda.

In the Trailer you see Raiders coming from the Main Bridge in Sanctuary. They never did this in my Game lol. In my first PT i made Walls arround the whole Area like every Builder from us and then i realized they spawn in the middle of the Settlement

fyi, there are Synth infiltrators randomly (?) dispersed throughout Commonwealth. you think they are settlers, but they are not! they will out of nowhere just attack from the inside. I have seen this happen and sometimes the settlement attack warnings are related to these sleeper cells.
it is supposed to happen and nothing can be done but hope you or your townies can defend.\

but I agree that the other more numerous raider\deathclaw\mutie attacks do spawn inside your borders and it needs to be addressed.

I usually have the opposite problem. They sit there and watch as I fight. Especially if we're shooting at each other from a distance

Yeah but traders also come across that bridge. I wonder if they would set off the fire traps and all that. I do know they will set off any mines you lay around ... and blow themselves to pieces.

But that clip in the pre-release vid was very deceiving. It certainly made me think I would be able to set up my own Castle Defense type game with raiders attacking.
