Love for the Kindle Fire?

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 3:09 am

Bottom Line Up Front: I'd like to play on my Kindle so I don't have to spend money on getting a new device (and possibly buy some in-game lunchboxes as well to support Bethesda).

I'm not sure if this is explored in any other thread but I haven't been able to find any information on Bethesda's plans for the Kindle Fire. I've read that there is a side loader for Google Play for the Kindle but also that Fallout Shelter has been coded to be prevented from being used like that so at the moment all Kindle users have to just watch YouTube and sob uncontrollably at the despair of not being able to play, or shovel out large sums of money for another device so they can play. Blue Stack for PC is also another option but bogging down your PC with a 'middle-man' program just to enjoy Fallout Shelter seems silly (plus it requires you to install other games to keep using it as a free service).

Again, I'd like to support Bethesda for making such a fantastic mobile game but if I need to spend money on a new device just to play (money I don't have) then that would really be a bummer. I'm pretty sure others share my sentiment.

Cheers!

Sorry, but uhh.... BUMP.

I'd really just like an answer to this. Thanks!

P.S: if bumping is against forum rules please do inform me and I'll cease.

Bumping is against forum rules.. Other than that I got no idea what their plans are for the future.. Let's hope they focus on F4 for a bit :)

EDIT

If you want, download an Android emulator for the PC and get Fallout Shelter that way... Bluestacks is okay, but there might be better ones suited to your preference.

You could always wipe your kindle and install a stock android or a custom ROM. After all, if you're unwilling to install a 'middle-man' software on your PC, why use a tablet that comes preinstalled with a middle-man ROM that effectively cripples the device?

I just removed BlueStacks because it was messing with my computer's hard drive.

I'm not sure if I'm ok with wiping my kindle. I did find some instructions on how to get it on Kindle but I'm about 95% sure it still won't work (because it is instructions on side loading Google Play, not how to get FOS on Kindle). So I'm sure it works but I'm also sure the when I get to the FOS installation step it will fail.

I attempted to "side-load" Fallout Shelter onto my Kindle. This should have worked except for the fact that the Kindle OS is too out of date to run it. The real question is "Does Amazon have love for the Kindle Fire?" If Amazon wont support their own device with OS upgrades I cant expect developers to bother with it.

Currently playing FS on my PC with Bluestacks emulator and using my Kindle to read books.

Yea my wife's laptop has a hard disk issue to boot, but BlueStack has pushed it beyond the breaking point where we are now getting the 'Back Up Hard Disk immediately' and so we are in that process :/ It's a super old laptop (like 6 years old) brought back from the dead once already.

I figured the side-load route was going to be a dud. You are spot on with Amazon needing to love their own device (it seems like once Apple swept into the e-reader market most others were like, "eff this, game over, RAGE QUIT.' and they Amazon just gave up).
